So while outside working on a mail jeep the UPS guy delivers a package. I find its addressed to me from Horizon Hobby. I didnt order anything so I opened it only to find a gift wrapped box inside with a note. Now im sure I looked confused until I read the note on the box - "Congratulations on winning our e-flite sweepstakes" Sweet! I rip it open and find a new BNF mSR! So I opened it and started to fly immediately!

I know it not a plane but it is a new toy. After trying to sell my Traxxas Jato for the last couple of months with no bites I received an offer for a trade. I wanted to sell the jato so I could buy a mSR but this will do. I am now the owner of a Losi 1/18 scale Rock Crawler. I never really had dealt with rock crawlers despite building a rock crawling course when working at ddsHobbyTownUSA. So far I am enjoying this little thing (well, not so little) everywhere from outside on the rocks and trees to the couch iasn the living room. I didnt think it would be this entertaining but it is very fun.

So I love the UM J-3 but unless it dead calm outside you cant fly it. Now most pilots would just say "Fly indoors" but I have nowhere to do that so I wanted some more power so I can fly outside when I want. So I ripped out the stock motor and gearbox, and I mean ripped out. I think parkzone went a little too much on the glue. I dropped in a UM P-51 motor and gearbox along with the P-51 prop. I have to wait for the foam safe glue to dry (forever) so I can check the COG. As of right now I am going to leave the faux motor off to help with the weight.

So I finally made my first motor mount! I got all my parts for my Terry in and I had to make a mount for the motor so I grabbed the dremel and started cutting. After half an hour on the first try I got it Im hoping it will hold up. Here are some pics of the mount and the new motor vs. the old brushed 400.

Update: So I think the 6x3 I have is too big for this motor. I dont have a watt meter and this motor cuts out after about 6 seconds at WOT. It seems bogged down and the motor gets really really hot, real quick like so time to go for a smaller prop.
