Well in a few days(8th) I hit the dreaded half century mark.... How can this be? I mean I just finished High school in 76! That is yesterday right?
What really sucks is too broke to do anything and my lady has to work... So if you hear sobbing from your computer it is me drowning my sorrows on rcg....

I am wondering about finding a private mortgage lender for a piece of property my lady and I would like to buy.

We are not wanting or planning on paying for 30 years. More like a maximum of 10 years and likely paying it off in 5 years.
A lot of banks are not interested in loaning amounts as low as we need (under $40k)
The property is worth MUCH more then what we are buying it for. And yes there is room to fly there.....

I wonder what is the best way to find someone interested in loaning the money as an investment?

Hello all,

You know it has been a while since I have flown... But I know the addiction is still there.
I sign on rcg a little now and then for a read when I am able to get online. The other day I was outside and heard an interesting sound.. Followed the sound and what did I find? A formation of 3 SNJ/AT6s in flying by and turning final and lowering their landing gear.. I could feel my fingers wanting to move transmitter sticks while they went by... Now I know you cant fly full size planes like that! But it sure made me want to go fly!

I am in Tulsa right now spending time with my lady... And it made my day while she was at work!
I hope to find a buyer for my place in Indiana and buy a place on the Oklahoma Texas Arkansas border area then. And hopefully get back into flying and building again... And get back in touch with all my RCG friends here!
I hope everyone is doing well and has a great Christmas!

Hello all,

I know I have not been online in a while or contributed much for even longer.
contrary to rumors in the National Enquirer I have not died or been kidnapped by aliens! And no I am not being adopted by Angelina Jolie!

Ok I have been dealing with some issues both personal and health related lately.
As it seems to love to do my MS has been a royal pain in the nether regions...and has managed to come up with new ways to make life less then fun at times!

I am not wanting to leave the hobby and do hope I am able to get set up to be able to fly again or a regular basis again. Just not sure when.

I would still be happy to talk to any of my friends and would love to hook up with anyone near me to talk airplanes and such.

I have been lucky to have some great fun with one ezoner near here. And while things have got in the way of doing as much as I would have liked Nokie has made it possible for me to scare the wings off of an airplane a few times over the last few months!

I will keep this short and just say once again that I will not be running for public office in 2012 no matter what the press says!

Take care and hopefully talk soon!

As many of you know I have been in poor health for a while. That has not changed. I am getting some treatments and I am on meds. So far it has not helped.

Well now the spit really hits the fan! We have had some strong storms in South West Indiana. And they are calling for more to come over the next couple of days/. And the town where my house is looks like it is going to flood. I have my home rented out to a nice couple who have taken wonderful care of it.
Well now the levi has failed. And the water is rising. They will likely loose everything they have in it. And I will likely lose the home. There is no flood insurance. It has not been this bad as long as anyone can remember. They are calling this "Historic" flooding.

I have the place rented out as my only income. So needless to say my mood is poor and my hobby will have to take a backseat to figuring out what to do if it does flood the house.

Take care all,
Wes

I wanted to up date those who might be interested or wondering.
I have not been on much lately and may not be on much for a little bit more.

I have been dealing with more health problems and undergoing a lot of tests. And have a lot more to go.

I have not felt up to doing much lately but I am not getting out of the hobby!

When I am a little stronger and feeling better I hope to get more active again.

Sorry for not responding to those who have pmed me. I will strive to do better on that!

Well Spring has sprung! And with Spring comes rain to Indiana. Now I don't mind a little rain now and then. Or even a Thunderstorm once in a while.

But the water in my drive was at one point over 3 feet deep! My lp tank started floating. a good 3/4 of my 1 acre lot is under water. and these pictures were taken the in the afternoon the day after the rain stopped.
My garage has several feet of water in it. I will have to see what all I have lost. But I had a lot of stuff in there.... oh well!

Well I got brave and flew my Slowstick in my backyard this morning. Got a total of about 10 minutes or so. It is funny the yard looks big untill you start flying a plane in it! Then it feels real small! I managed to stay out of all the trees. And did not break anything.
Any flight where the plane is not damaged is a good one in my book!
I would have flown longer but was getting tired and not feeling well. But had to try since there was no wind.
Next spring I will make sure the grass is cut short so I can rog and land easier.

A friend of mine who also has MS has this on her Blog. While I never have any remissions and can not work anymore this still describes what it is like.
Hopefully this will help people understand a little better what it is like for me and others who have MS.
UNDERSTANDING WHAT MS MEANS

Having MS means many things change, and a lot of them are invisible. Unlike having cancer or being hurt in an accident, most people do not understand even a little about MS and it's effects on us; and many of those who think they do know are actually misinformed. In the spirit of informing those who wish to understand...

These are the things that I would like you to understand about me before you judge me:

Please understand that being sick does not mean I'm no longer a human being. I have to spend most of my day in considerable pain and exhaustion and if you visit I probably don't seem like much fun to be with, but I'm still me stuck inside this body. I still worry about school, and work, and my family and friends, and most of the time I'd still like to hear you talk about yours too.

Please understand the difference between "happy" and "healthy". When you've got the flu you probably feel miserable with it for a week or two, but I've been sick for years. I can't be miserable all the time, in fact, I work hard at not being miserable. So if you're talking to me and I sound happy, it means I'm happy, that's all. It doesn't mean that I'...Continue Reading

Well I am moving. Just to a nearby town. The serious upside is the house sits on an acre of mostly clear land. And if I walk out to the street and to the right about 25 feet there is a HUGE field that is all open farmland.

I have already asked and it is ok for me to fly electrics there.
Starting the cleanup and move tomorrow. My internet activity will be limited till it is all done.
But it will be worth it in the end!
Oh the garage is heated too. In the picture you can see a white car in the drive. That will help give you an idea of the size of the lot. I have outlined the property lines too.

Here is a link to where I fly.
This post has pictures of my main flying site. It is located about 15 miles North East of Vincennes on hwy 67 and about 40 miles South East of Terre Haute.

As you can see there is a lot of room here and it is a nice place to fly about anything you could want.
The people here are very rc friendly and there are no issues with flying here.

Yet I am the only one who ever flys here.
Surely there must be someone with in driving distance who would like to fly here?
It sucks flying alone!

I have been thinking a lot lately about this. I am not ready to stop flying completely. But I know that there will be a time when I can not fly anymore.

So what determines when it is time to stop? I know that if it is no longer fun then of course there is no point in doing something that is meant to be fun when it is not.

My desire to fly is a strong as it ever was. But my ability to fly has changed. Really fast planes are out of the question now. As are planes that are radicaly aerobatic.

It is ironic in a way that my choices in planes are starting to go backwards. Going to slower and easier to fly airplanes.
I have always enjoyed slowflyers but now they are becoming more of a requirement instead of a choice.

I am not up to flying more days then I am able to. So I want to make the most of the times I am feeling well enough. And that means planes that are easier to fly.
But I do not want to be at the point where all I can do is fly in circles and that is it.
So at what point to you hang it up?
Sorry for all the rambling.

I am not feeling well at all. So not by choice I am going to be taking it easy for a bit. I will post as I can. But it might be hit or miss for a while.

But I am NOT leaving the hobby or giving up flying.

Yesterday evening before dinner the wind didn't seem too bad so I grabbed my Slowstick and transmitter and headed for the park. Pulled up next to the fence under a tree and unloaded the plane and turned on the transmitter.
I then plugged in the lipo pack and set the plane on the ground facing the large grassy area I fly over.
Did a quick control check and yup everything wiggles and in the right direction too! ( always a plus!) throttled up a little. And then back down. Looked at the flag. It was blowing a little more then I would have preferred but seemed to be blowing the right direction. So I went to half throttle and the plane rolled about 2 feet and was climbing at about 45 degrees. I climbed up to about Buzz altitude ( 25 feet ) and throttled back. I cruised around at about 1/3 for a while. Did a loop and made some approaches and slow flybys.

The plane was getting moved around some but not too bad. And certainly nothing hard to control or adjust for.
I made a few passes with the plane weather veining about 20 degrees or so into the wind.
I did some more figure 8s and just generaly flew around. Playing with the throttle and and did a little hovering into the wind.
Finally decided it was time to come down when I felt rain drops on my face!
Went out a couple of hundred feet and started my approach pattern. Bringing the throttle back more on each leg.
As I turned on to final approach and lined up I brought power back to what would be a slow idle...Continue Reading

I am still struggling with my MS and have realized that I need to find someone to fly with in my area.
I can no longer drive long distances. So they would need to be close or be able to come here. I have no shortage of good places to fly here. And if they are still learning to fly I would be happy to help.

Today I went to fly my Slowstick. Flying the plane was good. But I had some problems going back and forth to and from the car.
I realized that if something happened I could have a real problem.

I don't want a baby sitter. I want to find a flying partner. Kind of like you should not scuba dive alone.

It would help in staying motivated. And also not a bad thing to have someone there to land if I am not feeling well. Or if I have trouble seeing the plane.

Not to mention it gets reallllly boring flying alone all the time!
Hopefully someone will turn up in my area.
