I decided to start detailing my Durafly Corsair. This is a great plane. Very scale with retracts and flaps. The foam is nice and smooth and the paint looks really nice. It could use an upgraded ESC to run 4S batteries for a little more speed.

I have always been a huge fan of the Skyraider. My great uncle , Robert O. Rahn, was one of the test pilots for Douglas on the Skyraider. During testing he bailed out of one Skyraider and crash landed two others. One at Pax River and the other at LAX. During Vietnam , my Father was a Skyraider munitions maintenance crew chief in 1969-70 at Nakhom Phenom AB Thailand.
I chose the Starmax model because of the large size and weight , decent scale details and nice features like the rotating main retracts, retractable tail wheel, speed brakes and huge flaps. I also decided on the Starmax because it is the only one offered in my Father's squadron's markings, the 602nd Special Operations Squadron. After I completed the build, I decided that the Skyraider was in desparate need of weathering. The factory fresh look just didnt do the plane justice. The USAF Skyraiders had a tough life and worked very hard. They were always dirty and the camo paint was in rough shape....Continue Reading
