Yesterday I flew in the 2015 One Eighth Air Force Fly-In. I have attended this event many times but for some reason I never participated, beyond taking photos. I really enjoyed the event and had a great time chatting about our planes with the other members.
Having participated in the event I recalled the first time I had ever seen a model airplane flying. I can't recall the exact time frame but I would guess I was approximately 10 years old, or somewhere in the mid 1980s. A friend of mine is in one of the photos with what appears to be a smashed Byron Staggergwing. I was the same age as my friend at that time. This was probably the event that started my interest in model aviation. With some exceptions I have been doing it ever since.

I went to the One Eighth Airforce Fly-In this last weekend. I credit the One Eighth with getting me interested in model aviation as it was my first air show as a kid. My dad was not involved in the hobby but I made him take a friend and I to the event.
