I got a new toy this weekend! I gave $475 for the airframe.
here is my new wing design. 14 foot
So, It is butt dog cold outside (I live in redneck ville so yes this is an actual term!) and I decided to build some small foamies. I made a foam cutter with a battery charger and a light dimmer switch and set it up to cut 1/8 inch sheets of foam off of 3/4 inch sheets. below is the results. I tried to make the one look like and be the same size as the vapor, and the other one I call bigfoot for obvious reasons!!
The foam cutter. The bottom peice is screwed to the bench, and the top part moves to make anything you want!! the arms are 3/16 all thread I had laying around
This is bigfoot. I am using the ar6400 brick, and a sukhoi motor
Acrobatic version of a vapor. the wing is the same size as the vapor. Spar is hollow carbon fiber with a 1 in long bent peice of metal in the middle to make the dihedrawl
the insides of bigfoot
Here she is! the acro vapor. weighs in at 34 grams with battery. the vapor is 13 with battery.
This is custom built by me!!! It took about 2 years and way to much $$$. Oh well. It was fun though! It is for sale for the right price.
It has been a while since I posted on Gigantor, but I have made a lot of progress. Check it out!!!
FLT 100 twin from hobbycity.com. $500 shipped to your door. An amazing running engine!!!
This is both wing halves; 15 wingspan. The right side is the front
Fuse is 10 feet long
tail feathers. the flying wires are made of weed-wacker line!!
The bottom of the FLT 100
Well, I have come a long way on gigantor. I finally have the tail section of the fuse close to done, and the next step is to finish the middle section where the front and back halves of the fuse connect. I have about 2 hours per day to work on it, so each picture is the end of progress for a particular day.
Here are some cool shots of my new gigantor plane I am building. What do you think? Obviously I got a lot of wood to cut off of the fuse section, but hey, it is my first big plane, and so far, I am into it 75 bucks!!! So, if it crashes on the first flight, I am out 4 billion hours, and 75 bucks! I can stand to loose, time, but not green! the wings are made of 3/4 inch pink styrafoam, and I have some super thin aluminum that i took to a friends house that has a metal bender and we made a leading and trailing edge for each panel. It will have a 16 foot wing span!
Here are some cool pics of the plane I am building. The tail section of the Fuse is 60 inches long, and the front part from the engine to the back of the wing is 50 inches long, so, the thing will be 110" long.
Here are some of my planes. A 1/4 scale taylor craft, and an 8 foot senior telemaster
I am in the process of building a 15 foot wingspan plane. I bought a 52cc engine from hobby city and it runs great! I am In the process of stick building the tail section of the fuse. Pitures to come!!
