Motrofly 30a ESC
Gens Ace 3s 1000 25C
30 amps/328 watts
I was pretty shocked by the high numbers since the information sheet said that prop and a comparable battery should only produce 23 amps/255 watts. Love the power though on my RC Factory SU-29 and hope the motor and esc hold up.

I like how the red on the Turnigy 2217/1050kv complements the red on the MUS, but I have a Motrolfly arriving soon since I want more POWER!
Taxiing around the field is a lot smoother now with the addition of a tailwheel. Block of epp could probably be a little less high, but it does give a lot of clearance for the rudder.

I think I'll bring it down from an APC 10x7E to an APC 10x5E to keep the motor and the esc within their performance parameters for my Parkzone P-47. With the 10x5E, I can go full throttle for a longer period of time without any worry over overheating the motor, esc, or battery.

Imported QQ's UMX Beast settings from Spektrum on to my DX8
I imported QQ's UMX Beast settings this morning. Maybe I can get the plane up in the air this weekend. It's too bad I didn't wait a little longer and buy the AS3X Beast, but this model should still be fun.
RC Factory Edge 540 at Rancho San Antonio
I had a lot of fun maidening the Edge 540 the morning of 11/19/2011. It's a very responsive plane that has great pull out when you need it. I'm still trying to dial in the CG with my Turnigy 500 mAH 2s batteries at 37g each.

First few harriers under the soccer goal frame went fine, and then I came under the goal a little to fast... Took some time to make a Welder Glue hinge and stabilize the aileron servo (fortunate I used a metal gear servo that didn't strip), but the plane is flying again.
Increased expo on RC Factory SU-29
Increased expo on high rates for my ailerons and rudder, and it made harrier and inverted harrier flying a lot smoother. Trying to get my inverted harriers as easy to fly as my normal harries. I'll be doing a lot of figure 8s in the next month. My goal is to eventually progress to rolling harriers.
Blew out DX8 charging circuitry
I blew out the charging circuitry of my DX8 today when I connected my DX8 with the Radical RC JR / Spektrum 4.8V Transmitter Charge Cord to my Bantam B6 and tried to charge at 1000mAh or 1A. I had charged at 1A before with my DX7, so I thought 1A wouldn't be a problem. When I tried 1A with the DX8, I heard a pop and smelled electronics burning. Upon further reading, it looks like there's charging circuitry in the DX8 which should only be charged at 200mAh, so the charge cord would have been fine at 200mAh. Now, when I try to charge with the normal charger, I just get a blinking blue LED light instead of a solid blue LED light. At least the DX8 still powers up okay. Now I'll have to physically remove the battery to charge, but that's fine since a big reason I got the charge cord was to charge at a higher rate than 200mAh. I ordered the JR/SPecktrum White TX Plug Direct Charge Cord to do this for the included the NIMH battery and potentially for the LIPO battery.

Balanced ParkZone BF-109G 2-blade spinner
I heard a lot of vibration when I went to full throttle with a Tacon Big Foot 25 and the ParkZone BF109G 2-blade spinner on Saturday. The APC 11x8E had already been balanced, so another flyer at the field suggested I also had to balance the spinner. On Sunday, after I separately balanced the back plate and the cone of the spinner, the vibration decreased a great amount at full throttle. I used CA to balance the back plate and Scotch Magic Tape on the inside of the cone to balance the cone. The cone was easy to balance since it had a hole right in the middle of the cone.
Motorized Multiplex Merlin reborn as a Slope Glider
Didn't want to reinstall a motor in a crunched nose Merlin, so I made it into a slope glider. I had a lot of fun my first time slope soaring:

3S with Exceed 60A Opto ESC and Zippy 2650 3S 30C
Full throttle
467 Watts
41.9 Amps
4S with Exceed 60A Opto ESC and SkyLipo 2200 4S 20C 40C Burst
Full Throttle
932 Watts
63.2 Amps
About 2/3 throttle
493 Watts
32.9 Amps
418 Watts
26.82 Amps
What's interesting is the 4S produces more watts with less amps than the 3S if you compare the 467 watts (3S) and 493 watts (4S) figures.
As long as one doesn't go full throttle with the 10x7 on 4S, it looks like a good prop to go with for 3S and 4S since the E-Flite Power 25 1250kv has these specs regarding amps:
Continuous Current: 50A
Maximum Burst Current: 58A (15 sec)
Edit 11/18/2011: Regarding this statement:
I now know the answer after listening to Lucien Miller on ATTF. Basically, if you increase the voltage by going from a 3S to 4S battery, you need less amps to generate a given watt number which is why you go to a higher voltage battery when you need to generate more watts.

Parkzone P-47 on 4S and E-Flite Power 25 1250kv
Flew 4S for the first time on any plane tonight with the following setup for my P-47:
E-flite Power 25 1250kv (it turned out the 870kv I thought I had purchased with the P-47 was actually a 1250kv)
Exceed 60A OPTO Brushless Speed Controller ESC (w/o BEC)
Dimension Engineering SportBEC
APC 10x5E
SkyLipo 2200 4S 20C (40C burst)
And all I can say is WOW! The burst of power when I go full throttle took a few times to get used to. Along with the installed retracts and flaps, I added 14g of lead on the inside of the air flow exhaust to counteract any any extra weight up front.
