Hi Guys,

the title may sound a bit strange, but as there will be another German Indoor Aerobatics Championship in October, I think it is appropriate.

Despite being an "Open Championship" only 15 pilots registered, i.e. there were noticeably less competitors than usual.

The F3P-AP class was won by Christoph Lausberg, who already demonstrated the potential of his HELIX design at Wall-Halla (NL). Second place went to Dennis Horn, who had no new model, but used his old MANTA, as did Markus Zolitsch who came third. All top three pilots are members of the DMFV Indoor Team!

Coming fourth in his first year of F3P-A competition is a great result for one of the youngest pilots, Karl-Ernst Overdick (12). Kai Heuzeroth und Tjark Schwartau also showed great improvements, coming 5th and 6th. Seventh place went to Nico Strebel (SUI), the youngest competitor at 12 years of age.

Sergej Glavak achieved a respectable 8th place with his new monowing design and Alan Goljevscek (SLO) came 9th with his SPARK.

It was extremely tight between 6th and 8th place with only 0,05% between competitors.

Kai Anderl made it into the Top Ten with the second of three VANGUISH's used in the competition.

After the huge success of Wall-Halla in 2007, Wall-Halla 2009 took place on 07.- 08 February 2009.

What is Wall-Halla? A unique Indoor Flying Event with European Top Pilots, organized by Martin Müller, Stephanie Schwan and Markus Zolitsch, supported by the local model flying club FMFG Schifferstadt-Assenheim and the DMFV (German Model Flying Association).

Wall-Halla presents the complete bandwith of Indoor Model Flying, spiced with Live Music, Show-Acts, Dance Groups, Laser- and Light-Shows, Professional Commenting etc.

Model Flying is presented as an exciting, entertaining and thrilling hobby and as the top pilots are already there, challenging competitions are scheduled around the main event.

The Organization Team (Dick, Derk and Bert van der Vecht and Jeroen van Gog) invited top Indoor Pilots from all over Europe and some travelled more than 1500 miles (one way!) to join this fantastic event. The last selection contest for the World Air Games 2009 in Torino/Italy took place in Dübendorf/CH, the same place which hosted the very first RC Aerobatics World Championships in 1960 and where two German pilots came second and third.

With 103.000 visitors the modell-hobby-spiel in Leipzig set another record for a three day event. The facilities are excellent and this year we even had an Indoor Night Flying Show twice a day. It was here, where I started to get a taste for Indoor flying in 2000, and after 3 years as pilot only, I am organising the Slowflyer Show since 2003.

Last weekend I made a trip to Lahr (Black Forest Region) to watch some exciting Aircombat flying. Those models are 1:12 scale and although the majority is still flying IC engines, most twins were already using electric power. At the same weekend, they also flew the so called "Gnumpf-Cup" - a pylon race event with simple, identical models and .25 motors. There is a stock class (standard motor/muffler) and an unlimited class (any .25 motor/tuned pipe).

Please find attached the complete results of the German Indoor Aerobatics Championship 2008. As it is an Open Championship, we also had pilots from the Czech Republik, the Netherlands, Austria, Lithuania, Slovenia and even from Finland competing. It was hard to beat the quality of flying from last year, but I think these guys moved it up yet another notch. Unfortunately the models from the competitors from Finland got lost in transport and they had to fly with borrowed models. Some pilots also escaped the photo-shooting, so I had to use pictures from the qualifying.

The Indoor Fest in Prague took place from 19.- 20. January 2008. This year, some pilots travelled long distances to participate in the first Selection Contest FAI F6B (AeroMusicals) for the World Air Games 2009 in Turin/Italy.

Indoor pilots from the DMFV (Deutscher Modellflieger Verband = German Model Flying Association) competed in Prague 2004 at the first CZ Indoor Aerobatics Championship, so this was a good opportunity to go there again.

On 9th December 2007, the second round of the NL F3P Championship took place in Loon op Zand. As four members of the German Indoor Team were invited to perform some show flying "Wall-Halla style" (and to compete of course), I went there as well.
