With approx. 98.000 visitors in just three days, the modell-hobby-spiel in Leipzig was, yet again, the most popular model fair in Germany 2012. The facilities are excellent and we had the Indoor Night Flying Show twice a day again.

A big "Thank You" to the DMFV team pilots!

The theme this year was "Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines", hence some of the "classic" models.

Hi Guys,

since 2009, we have two German Indoor Aerobatics Championships, one organized by the DAeC and one organized by the DMFV - the later one being much more international.

The first event took place from 17.- 18. March 2012 in a rather unusual place, the brand new HUK-Coburg Arena.

Top scores went to Gernot Bruckmann (AUT) and Alan Goljevscek (SVN), while the third place in the top classes went to Dennis Horn (GER) and "Wunderkind" Marc Faulhaber (GER).

After a four years pause of Indoor competitions in Belgium, an FAI F6B competition was announced on short notice - basically to find potential pilots for the World Artistic Games which are supposed to take place in China at the end of this year.

There was a lot of time available, as only 13 of 15 pilots showed up. Normally, the event would have been cancelled at this low number of participants.

Instead of running a practise round for the judges to familiarize themselves with the wide range of various performances, there was only one calibration flight.

The starting order was already pre-determined and unfortunately all consequent rounds where based on the scores achieved. The lowest scoring pilot starts first etc. With this system, there are only very little or slow movements in the ranking, unless there is a technical problem or a crash (very unlikely at this level of competiton and a hall of this size without obstacles).

Therefore I will leave it up to the viewer to do his (or her) own judgement of the flights.

Please find attached the complete results of the German Indoor Aerobatics Championship 2011 - and of course pictures of the pilots with their models. 31 pilots were competing for the titles. As it is an Open Championship, we also had top pilots from Austria, Belarus, Czech Republik, Netherlands, Lithuania and Switzerland competing. First time, the pilots had to fly the new FAI F3P-AP schedule for 2012/2013 and for the third time, the top ten pilots in the Expert class were challenged to fly an additional unknown schedule. This kept the competition really exciting until the last flight.
