OK, I wanted to do a little blog about SEFF, and post all of my pictures and videos in it. Just now(2 weeks later) got the time to do so...
This was my 5th year going to SEFF, and it was by far the best SEFF yet! It seemed like there were less people then last year, but I really liked having it in the spring. It was much cooler, and the bugs were not out "out in force" yet.
Ross and I arrived about 8:30PM Tuesday night with the P-Stream in tow(remind me to do a blog about the P-Stream sometime). We ran into town, grabbed supper and a few last minute "SEFF necessities", and got back to Hodges. We didn't leave the field again until heading home Sunday. Wednesday and Thursday the weather was amazing! Very little wind. However, Friday and Saturday were not. The wind was crazy! We had a threat of rain on Friday night, but the storms ended up going just north of us. I think it sprinkled for about 5min and that was it. I live an hour north of Hodges and they were under a tornado warning!
What I believe will be a new SEFF tradition was created Saturday night. SEFF Night Bowling! I don't really remember who started it, but some of the guys decided to stack some of the orage plastic cones on a table, and simply see who could knock the most cones down with their airplane. This turned out to be huge. At one point there were around 150 spectators watching. My camera was dead, but there were several other taking pictures and video. You can see the SEFF Night...Continue Reading
WOW! It has been over 2 years sine my last blog entry. I guess that's the spot in my life timeline where I left RC. Well I never really left RC, but I have had so many other things going on I would only fly once every couple of months. It has not been all bad though, I have learned, and gained a lot in the time I spent away from RC. I set a goal to run a 5K race in under 25min, and 4 months later ran my first 5K race in 21:13! I am excited to be starting a new chapter in my life though. I FINALLY decided I want to make a career out of videography and photography. It's something I have always enjoyed doing and lately as I have started putting more time into it, my passion for it has grown. I have slowly been building up my camera gear, and know-how for the past year or so and finally decided I have everything I need to get me started and it's time to make the jump. So about a month ago I switched from working full time to working 24 hours a week in an effort to start "Duct Tape Productions". It's nothing official, copyrighted, or licensed yet, just a dream that will hopefully start to fade into reality over the next few years. Which will hopefully also lead to flying more. RC is not however the focus for DT Productions, my aim is more towards commercials, music videos, etc.
I just got back from SEFF yesterday(which I will post about in another a later blog), and it really reminded me how much fun it is not just to fly, but to be around the rest of the guys in the RC community.
Well that's it in a nutshell. I'm sure there will be plenty more to come as this all pans out.
I did however pick up an SSX! While at the 2DogRC booth I noticed a SSX box leaning up against the wall that said "Shipping Damage - $35 OBO". The guy showed me where there were a few crushed spots in the wing. I offered $25, and he took it. I cut the covering away around the crushed spots, repaired the balsa the best I could, and just got the new covering in today, so I got the covering patched where I had cut it away. Hoping for a maiden this weekend. Will post more on that later.
As for other builds I am working on, I dont have too much left on the Gambler DLG kit. Just waiting on the ESC to get here for the UFX, and I have some combat planes on the way.
Will post more about all that once I get them flying.
As for the trailer I have now completely replaced the ply around the outside of the trailer. Now if I could just get a weekend without rain so I could get the sheet metal on it
SEFF 09 promises to be the best SEFF ever for me. The longest I have ever been able to be at SEFF is for 2 days. This Year I am going to get there the Saturday before! I will also have my own trailer to stay in!
OK, it is almost 1AM so I need to get in bed. Thats it for this months update, but I will try to post more as I get done with all these projects I am working on.

Well, I guess it is time for my monthly update while there is still a little February left!
Just this past weekend a got a trailer. It is a 10ft camper style trailer. It is in really rough condition, but I hope to have everything repaired, and have it ready to go for Pop Curstis(April 17th-18th) then SEFF just two weeks after that.
The Perry Swap Meet is next weekend. My indoor demo will be at 6:00PM that Friday. I am pretty nervous. Going to "try" to spend as little as possible at the swap meet, since I need have money to buy the materials to fix my trailer.
Got everything for the QQ Yak in, and I have it setup and ready to run for the next time I go to Hodges.
The HXT900s are doing pretty good, I started selling them a few weeks ago, and so far have sold 62 of them.
I am also using them on a secret project of mine, witch I will post more about once I get farther along with it.

Well, I just thought I would post a quick update!
The SuperFly is A LOT of fun! I tested the durability last weekend I had it on its side in a turn at full speed(which is pretty fast on 3s!) about 20ft off the ground, and I just lost control. I am not sure exactly how it happened, but I had the antenna taped down, and I think the the tape came off, and allowed the antenna to dangle into the prop, and get pulled out of the Rx! It went in on its side at full throttle, did more cartwheels then I can count, and the only the that happened was it broke part of the canopy, and all it took was about 30sec with the hot glue gun, and it was in the air again!
I maidened my scratch built foamy biplane today! It flys very well! Only problem I have found so far is that it will only fly KE if I dont hold much rudder in it, if I do it rolls out. I think this is because of how ,much side area it has from the struts, I will trim the down some, and see if that helps.
I have been wanting the Oxalys F3A from Hobby-Lobby for a while, and just got an e-mail saying it will be in the Crash Sale tomorrow, and will be discontinued after that, so I will probably be ordering one.
I also plan on setting up my Hobby-Lobby FA-18 with vectored thrust this weekend!
Sometime soon I hope to get a Lynx, take the fan off, and put a MicroDan 2505 "SPEED" in it!
There are a few planes I hope to get when they come out...
E-flite Ultimate(if its anything like the Ultimate Fx it will be awsome!)
QQ Turbine Toucan
SebArt Angel 30e
HL F5-E Tiger Swiss

Well, me and Bryan D went up to Hodges today. PERFECT flying weather!
Very little wind early after noon, ZERO wind from about 4:00 to dark. I got about 20 flights in. I took the Telemaster, F/A-18, and Pitts S2. I took the SlowStick incase we stayed late enough to night fly, but we didnt. I did di about 8 air drops with the Telemaster. Parachute men came out perfect every time!
I got to see Bill Fly his BVM Electra Jet! Only the nose, and right retracts would come down, so he had to retract em, and belly land it.
Joey was doing an auto with the T-Rex 600, when the Rx pack came unplugged, it fell strait to the ground from about 50ft! Did I ever mention I HATE JST connectors!?!?! It did a number on it too.
Ryan Evans brought out the BIG Cessna! He kept having trouble with the left engine. 3 times he took it up, and the left engine failed! The dude is one heck of a pilot. Landed it perfect all 3 times. It is Hard to land a twin engine plane when only one motor is running! He finally got it going, and was up flying for about 3-4min when the servo arm came off the right aileron servo. Aileron, and wing started fluttering like crazy! He landed it perfect too!
All in all it was a great day! first time I ever went to a hobby shop, and only spent $4!
Bryan bought a World Models UniJet! Stocked up on Foam safe CA too!
I did get some aerial video from the Telemaster! I will post it as soon as I am done editing.
