For the last several days I've been worrying about recording this show. My seasonal allergies have been causing all kinds of issues resulting in awful fits of coughing and wheezing whenever I try to do things like, well...TALK! As it turned out, there was no need to worry, because our team is quite capable without me.
Listen in as Tim King leads our group (Laine Stahr, Tim Walker, and ol' Crash) in discussion of the latest news from the FAA regarding Commercial use of our aircraft, the cost effectiveness and capability of the Tactic radio systems, Hinging techniques, using a Spotter when flying, and various other bits of information we've found.
In this week's installment we get a visit from Laine's Flight Nurse (Melissa) which, of course, has absolutely nothing to do with the RC, but that's the kind of weird stuff we do. LoL Steve "Vintauri" Mills pops in to share what he observed at eWeek last week, and we also discuss some new items that have caught our eye, talk about some of our listener's projects, and share our opinions on this week's epic IOTW.
We're back again this week with a fresh show - our 294th installment. Tim King had an opportunity to attend and compete in his very first DLG event this past weekend, and I'd say that he is HOOKED! LoL I am hopeful that Tim shares more on this facet of the RC hobby in future shows, as this is something I've wanted to try for a long time. Also, we have Joel (MetroGTi) Dirnberger on to share his progress on the new Laine's Planes 'Cuda (a lighter balsa variant of the EPP original) test build. This plane may very well be available from RACores in a few short weeks!
We have some really great pictures for this week's slideshow, but unfortunately we didn't get to share much information on some of them due to poor time management. Be sure to click on the link for this week's pictures and check out Matthew E's Taranis, Matt V's Losi Scaler project, Brad's DIY Paint Booth, Weathervane's Mud Duck on Floats, HornetNZ's new 93" AJ 230z, and Let'sFlyRC's new mini quad!
In this 293rd installment of our little show, some people are most certainly going to be offended. You see, in our attempt to educate folks on what NOT to do with our hobby, we've started a new segment. I don't know if it will be 'Weekly", but I'm fairly sure we can find enough content to pull it off.
Happy New Year!! The year 2015 marks the beginning of our 7th year attempting to inform and entertain you folks (kind of hard to believe it's been that long!). The whole gang is together this week and we've got quite a bit of stuff to share. Be sure to hit up the link below for our slideshow so you can see all of the cool stuff you hear us talk about on the show.
Because we so much enjoy hanging out with our friends every week, we decided to cut our holiday vacation short and come together for one last recording in 2014. Don't look for any 'real' information in this show (quite frankly, it was a train-wreck with Skype being all stupid!), but if you want to hang out with us for this last-minute session, download away!
For all of you folks that stick with us and our nonsense each week, thanks so much and may 2015 offer each and every one of you the best in Health, Wealth, and Happiness!!
Please join us for our last podcast installment of 2014 where we sit around the tree, sing CHRISTmas Carols, and enjoy warming beverages! Okay, to be truthful, we weren't all in the same place, but Cathead DID sing a little, and some of us were definitely enjoying "warming beverages". LoL
I did a little bit of trimming in this episode to cut out some of the awkward silences when we were drawing the gift recipients from our Sponsor Reward Program. Something new was tried, but it didn't go off quite as smooth as I had pictured it in my mind. LoL
Thanks so much to all of the fine people that sponsored next year's podcast. In fact, the turnout was so good that I will not need to bother you guys for sponsorship for THE NEXT THREE YEARS! Also, thanks go to our vendor sponsors that shared some of their products for our Mystery Boxes that I hope to get in the mail soon.
It is our heartfelt wish that each and every one of you enjoy a Merry CHRISTmas, Happy Hannukkah, and may you be blessed with health, happiness, and prosperity in 2015!
For the next two weeks, we will disband with the LIVE recording sessions and new podcast episodes as we take the time to spend the holidays with our families and friends. If you must have your CrashCast fix, please feel free to delve into some of our older episodes (the first year stuff was so AWKWARD! LoL). We will return to podcastland streaming LIVE on Wednesday, January 7th, 2015 at 8pm CST!
In this week's show we do our normal thing, and I find myself wondering why you folks even follow our nonsense. LoL Be sure to check out the link below for Darren's Lipo Bunker - it's probably the best solution for safe charging that I've seen to date!
Also, we have our favorite multi-rotor expert and supplier, Paul "Witespy" Baxter, come on and share some of the new stuff he's added to his website since we last spoke. If you're into the multi-rotor game, I'm sure you'll be interested in some of these new items!
Lots of fun recording this show! Laine and Chris were missing, but Karl was able to show up for the session (though he left some customers without heat to do so! LoL). We've got our typical banter in this one, but we do actually cover some useful information when we try our best to answer a listener's email regarding LiPo batteries.
The holiday season is here and we only have two more episodes scheduled for 2014. If you've got a CHRISTmas Wish you'd like us to read on the show, email it to me! Also, I've noticed that lots of folks are including some model aviation-inspired decorations on their CHRISTmas trees and I would LOVE to have pictures of them so we can share them on our last episode of the year - so email me some pictures!
In this 287th show we talk a bit about the few things we've found for sale for Black Friday this year. The deals are not quite as abundant as we've seen in years past, but theres still a few to be found.
As the name of this show suggests, this one got off to a VERY rocky start, but somehow we managed to get back on track. LoL In this 286th installment, we talk news, products, and videos. We talk briefly about this year's fundraiser (Sponsor Gift Program), as well as something new we're trying out - our CrashCast Secret Santa!
TheCrashCast Secret Santa : If you'd like to participate in this, all you have to do is send an email to TheCrashCastSecretSanta@gmail.com. In that email you should share your 'real' name, as well as any screen name you may use on any of the RC forums, along with your mailing address and a little about your RC interests. We'll close things down on December 1st and Laine will randomly draw names for everyone. When you get an email advising who you're to play Santa for, you'll buy and mail a special CHRISTmas gift to that personal. You can spend as much money as you'd like on your person, but there is a minimum set at $25.
In this week's show, we have an opportunity to visit with Jonathan Sawn, the owner of Sawn-Craft. Jonathan is the third generation of his family to offer up goodies to the model-building community, and you'll certainly want to have a look at some of the cool items he's producing!
In addition to our normal level of chaos, Laine has started something new for this year - a Secret Santa exchange! If you want to get involved, all you have to do is send an email to TheCrashCastSecretSanta@gmail.com to let us know you want to be involved. Also share with us your full name and address, your screen name on you favorite RC forum, and a little about you and what all you're into. Though you can buy a gift for someone as expensive as you desire, we have set a minimum dollar amount at $25.
One last note - We've fired up our year-end fundraiser. Head on over to AllThingsCrash and read all about our Sponsor Gift Program!
In this 284th installment of our little show, we get the opportunity to visit with our favorite cherry farmer from the great Northwest - Dougbo!!! Doug is an avid RC pilot that enjoys all disciplines of flight - from helicopters to 3D foamies, crunchies, and gassers. Doug's latest adventure in the hobby, though, is something we find particularly interesting - he's jumped in to flying 3D Quadcopters! Join us this week to hear his comments and opinions comparing the Invertix 400 and the Leap 450 3D.
Also included this week is our usual attempt to bring you some news on what's new and interesting in our favorite sport.
So in this 283rd installment, we talk about The RAMS Veterans Fly-In, some new products, FAA developments, and share some cool pictures. Being that Halloween is fast approaching, you may notice the spooky theme to some of the pictures. Oh, and you'll certainly want to find out all about Cathead's big break! LoL
Have a SAFE and FUN Halloween, gang, and DON'T FORGET TO VOTE ON TUESDAY!
Last weekend marked the 9th annual HHAEFI event at Mac Hodges compund in Andersonville, Georgia. Even though I was unable to attend this event we still have some coverage since Chris (Cathead), along with the rest of 'Arcola RC', WAS able to attend. Join us as we talk about this event and be sure to check out the Slideshow pics from this week! Oh, and let's not forget about the videos that captured the essence of this great event - nobody captures an event like Bildo! Oh, and please try to ignore the "chicken wing" references (a BAD inside joke LoL).
In this week's installment of our little show, we dip into the mail bag and answer a few questions regarding CNC machining. If you're not into the CNC thing, no worries - this is not really an entire show on the subject. We also discuss some events, FAA news items, and a few new products.
In our 280th installment of the show we enjoy discussing a listener's comments made about a facet of our hobby that seems to be on the decline - Nitro-powered models. Join us as we reminisce about our golden days of using 'liquid fuel', as well as some of the pros and cons of Internal Combustion versus the Electric power systems most of us are using today.
This week the crew just gets together to visit and talk about what all is going on in our lives. We've got some videos to share, news on some new items, and a great fly-in coming up again at Hodges Field.
