Well I have been tearing up the skys lately with my home built foamies. The weather here in the great nortwest could not be any better for flying.
Well I had to make a new Dollar Tree plane, as the old one was crashed. I decided to mark it in red white and blue to honner the 4th. It preforms as well if not better than the first one.
Well I dumb thumbed it...
I guess I'll make a new one, I just hope it will fly as well as the old one.

Well I added landing gear to my depron fomie made from Dollar Tree foam board. I call it the Dollar Tree Edge. It flys like it's on railes. It is a much better flyer than the EPP planes I have made in the past. the only thing it was missing was landing gear, so I solved that prob. I just love flying it right off the street. takes off and lands perfect.
I had problems tunning the engine. I tried everything...carb off and cleaned, high and low needles set, I still could not get it to run right. It would run untill it gets warm and then quits running. So I took a look inside and discovered the ring and cylinder mared.
I am not sure when it happened or if I got the motor in that shape. I only have a tank os so through it. I have fresh fuel and am mixed at 40 to 1. To make a long story short I ordered a new piston and ring, should have it on the first or second of may...Mean while I finished up my new mini edge. It,s a Cermark Edge 540 electric.

Well allright, It's been maidened, we flew it and trimed it on Sat. did one flight and the tunning was not right so I added a tunning hole in the cowl and re tuned it. I flew it yesterday and had a blast. I did some rolls and loops, and it seems to be a great flyer. On the third flight I hit the deck kinda hard and the landing gear failed
Broke the gear and prop
Luck has it I have landing gear from a preveious project. Should be back up in the air by this weekend...

Well ok today the weather today looks to be awsome so I am taking the new Edge out fo it's maiden I set the cg foward about 1" from the last mark (per advice from others that have this plane.) I plan on flying high the first few flights, so I can get to know her, and trim it out. I'll post pics later.
Well allright Spring is almost here...I will hit the field this year with a new airplane, a CMPro Edge 540T 50cc.
I got it last week and will spent the next week or so to set her up.

Ok here's how it goes...I built the f-22 out of the Dollar tree stuff and it flew awsome, till the
prop snaped...the motor riped out of the plane and it went down. I repaired it and it flew ok till it cut a
servo wire...it went down again so this time the dammage was bad enough to call for a compleat rebuild. So here are pics of #2 f-22. I did the maiden yesterday and I am hooked on the speed and controll of this bird...

Just a quick update: I got her all painted up.
Now onto the motor, servos and ESC....

Well ok since I was working with the Dollar Tree stuff I decided to make a F-22, just to try something a bit different. I think it's comming along.
Well ok I decided to turn the last fomie into a night flyer. I put red LED's on the front underside of the wings and a single blue one in the rear. It's not too hard to fly at night or at least not as hard as I thought. I might need to add one on the top side, when I bank the plane you do lose sight of the underside. Other than that it's a blast to fly at night. My first night flight was last night, I ran two batteries just to check it out...
Looks like we have a winner...

Okay here is how it happened: One of my buds wanted a plane when he saw my fomie, so I said we would build him one if you bring over the guts...between the two of us we had enough parts to build a couple. I got a piece of EPP for his plane, and he picked up some fome from Dollar Tree. To make a long story short, we built his plane and I played around with the thin dollar tree stuff. Well I peeled the paper off and through the pattern on it and BINGO the two dollar plane is born. I could almost get it done with one piece, but not quite so I did use two. they 20"x30"x1/8''. I flew it yesterday and it did great. I need to brace the tail but other than that it is a great cheap plane...
not bad for a overnight airplane...

Well I had some extra parts from our 3-D build and decided to upgrade my old park zone cub. It was a 3 ch. 26Mhz park flyer. I gutted it out and cut some alirons in it and set it up on 2.4 Mhz with new servos and reciver. I put the 1500 engine in it with a 8" prop. Also I put some big wheels on it, brush plane...I will fly her this week and see how it does.
I hope this will be my new fun cub at the field...

Everybody showed up at the field today. We all had such a blast with the fomies. It's not to often we get the chance to fly them in the winter...
We had all the stations full today...

Well it's been one year now that I have been in the RC hobby. I joined the AMA and rcgroups one year ago and did my first flight on 2-11-11. It all started with my 1/4 scale J-3 Cub. from there it went nuts ,trainers, SPAD combat planes, 3-D fomies. In the last year my hanger has changed a lot, I even had to make racks to keep everything in order. This past year I have built and flown many different planes, the SPAD's or coro-planes were a blast, I really like flying combat. The 3-D fomies are fun too.
As I look back on the year, I have been quite busy, not only learning to fly but getting involved it my club, as I took over the Web Master and news letter for the club it has been a chalange as I have Dislexea as you might have guess by now. you can view here http://www.teamrc.org/.
Who knows where the next year will take me. I do plan on trying my hand at some IMAC flying, as I picked up a 30% Edge 540 and am installing a DLA56cc. in it, and I might take my big Cub to a Scale Masters event as well. I love the events our club puts on, so you know I will be at all of those as well.
You can read all my stuff on my blog. Untill my next post Fly safe and have Fun. Happy Newyear...

Well Christmas is here so I decided to make my twin grandson's their own plane. with that in mind, a guy at our club hosted a build in his shop, he pre ordered all the parts and supplys we needed. We built 32" foam planes they have 2cell lipos with a 12am speed controler running a 1500. Got to admit the things are a blast to build and fly. of course I had to have one too. after I was done I noticed I put the strips on backwards oh well...
I think we will still like em.
I think we will still like em.
Well after some research I discovered that the 3w 24i engine was not going to be big enough for the 30% Edge I am working on, so I got a DLA 56cc. for it. Now I know I will have plenty of power for this beast...
Can't waite to get it all together. I plane on installing the 3W 24i in a 90 size Cap.
