I am finally recovering from the TN Huckfest .....
I managed to keep everything except my 51" Slick in one piece. A solder joint went bad on the deans connector which caused a nice nose first crash. No need to worry as all it needs is a new motor box, not even the front former was damaged so it will be an easy fix.
The first day I arrived was friday, it was windy but I decided to fly to fly anyways. They were some of my best flights ever ! The wind was in just the right direction to bring it down VERY low for some rollers. I even managed a roller to landing. After it went down I flew my 46" Vyper and my foamy.
Nightflying was absolutely incredible! Mike and his crew had multiple light tower so you could see almost the whole runway. It was definitely a highlight of the event.
I got to watch Hover bowling which was very fun and managed to win a couple little things in the raffle.
I also got to meet all my online buddys.
Mike (AKA Bivens) ran the event beautifully and was a great host. He let me fly almost his whole fleet of airplanes! I got to fly:
103" Extra 330
57" Extra 330
The Beast Biplane
Jason let me fly his 89" Slick which was great!
Rcbirk21 let me fly his Osiris, which flew great and the first patten plane I had ever flown.
I got to fly the 104" Slick from 3DHS, I was on the buddy box with Arron Bates.
Overall I also got to see some amazing pilots throw their planes around.
Joe Smith flew the snot out of everything, I have never seen rollers that low. I also saw Arron Bates fly his 104" Slick like a madman.
I didn't take any video because I was way to busy meeting friends and flying stuff !
I did get some pretty good photos though ...
If there ever is a chance to go back to K-town for another Huckfest or Throwdown, I would go in a heart beat !

Well .... the weather is starting to get better ... Spring break is here and the TN Huckfest is just a few days away.
I have a LOT of stuff to post.
The last couple weeks it has rained every Sunday it seems, this past Sunday was good enough, but still chilly. I was able to get the 46" Vyper and 51" AJ Slick in the air for some good flights especially with the Vyper. The 51" had some ESC issues that hopefully will be solved soon before the Huckfest.
The Vyper is becoming one of my favorites, I had to repair the canopy from the last couple mishaps it has had. It looks funny becaue I added some tape with fiberglass strands in it to cover up some cracks. It actually looks cool from a distance.
I have been working on some cool snap rolls, rollers , and switching rollers lately. Rolling loops are much better I can do them almost every try.
I also was finally able to order my new gasser ... a 3DHS 72" Extra 330 ! I am going to buy a new DLE-30 engine and probably some new Hi-Tec servos. I will not be ready for the Huckfest, but I can wait.
I also was able to snag a Fancy Foam Yak, I had flown a friends and it was great. So when I saw the Fancy Foam was going out of business I had to order one. It should hold me over until 3DHS comes out the the depron Velox. It will be nice to have one in the box for a rainy day also.
I also have put up two new short videos. I put them up to test out my new phone which allows you to upload videos directly to youtube from it.

I got some major flying in these past couple days.
Saturday was perfect except for the usual crosswind, I had plenty of flights in with my 46" Vyper and 42" Slick. I am really loving the 46" I got down for some really low hovers and the rollers are fantastic. Not to mention I can flip on low rates and take a nice slow cruise while doing some precision stunts.
Sunday wasn't very good though, Thunderstorms were all around but it was actually very calm for awhile. I flew the 51" Slick with some new HobbyKing batteries. I was able to get some more flight time and a little more power. I was able to get down for some really nice low hovers.
I also got another chance to do some indoor flying !
It was totally fun and I got to fly some cool planes. Its really nice to fly in dead calm air every once in awhile. I flew some micro planes and a Fancy Foam Yak which is amazing ! Some video was taken, so when I get that I will post it here.

Well since the winds here were absolutely crazy this weekend some friends and I decided a slope trip was necessary. Well they decided , I just tagged along.
We were Sloping off a small dam out in the middle of nowhere.
I have never flown a slope plane before, but will some guidance by some good friends it wasn't as hard as I thought. It was really fun, and I managed to get myself into about five midair collisions.
I was flying some EPP Foamy and it was basically unbreakable, while we were at the dam no ones planes where seriously damage except for one. I was flying a borrowed plane so I was extra carful not to do anything stupid. We stayed for over four hours and I was in the air almost the whole time. It was much different than I expected, especially for someone like myself who has only been flying 3D for the past five months or so.
We packed up and went searching for a new spot to fly at, we drove up into the mountains and found a nice little slope, but it turned out to be very perilous. The lift was much different that at the slope, and if you lost lift you were headed straight into the trees and we probably never could have found it. I at first said I wouldn't try to fly but I did and it was really fun. Then it came time to land, which was extremely difficult. The foamies were not to bad, but the "Crunchies" ... AKA carbonfiber and balsa planes were predicted not to make it. But due to extremely good and crazy approaches all planes where able to make it down without to much damage.
Overall it was a blast and I would definitely do it again. I also maidened my 51" Slick last week and it flys extremely well.
I might even get to try some indoor flying this week to.
I tried to save it, but their was nothing I could do. I managed to keep it in the air for a couple seconds up in the panic it was nearly impossible for me to land it. The plane went in nose first and totaled the airframe. Me and some friends went to go find the wing that came off, and after a nice long walk found it at the far end of the flying field. We found the wing had a really bad structural failure, it seemed the glue joints just gave out. Both wing-bolts were still attached to the fuselage.
It is the first time ever loosing a plane this size and it truly does suck.
It seems the engine and servos may have survived. The airframe and some of my dignity are toast.
My dad and I sent an email to them , but unfortunately since the airframe was so old (its not even made anymore) they really can't do much for me.
They did give me a little discount on my next purchase , I really can't ask for much more than that.
Even after my crash , I didn't let it get me down. I flew my Vyper , Slick and foamy. I also got to fly a friends FancyFoam Yak 55 and its amazing so I will have to have one.

We finally got some warm weather this Sunday , it was about 45 Degrees .....
I got some really good flights in the Slick and Vyper , both are flying great. The foamy still isn't perfect due to the cold weather making the hinges getting stiff in the cold , but it still is a blast .. even if I can't do smooth rollers.
I got some really good low hovers with the Vyper ... and a bunch of torque roll practice with the Slick.
I also noticed I was having a hard time doing normal upright harriers ... when I realized I practiced inverted harriers so much I was getting the inputs wrong.
I ran out of batteries at 1:00 PM so I went home and ordered some new batteries , so next time I can stay longer.
I just started the 51" Slick build .... its going to be awesome.
I thought about selling it to buy the 65" Vyper ... but I don't really need another big plane .... for now ....
Back to school tomorrow after a week break due to snow ...
After that flight and another I totally wrecked my 42" Slick ....
I came in for a low harrier ... and when I went to pull out vertically .... I nosed it in really bad.
My fault .... My fingers where a little to cold to be flying that low , and I didn't realize that I was still pulling on the stick ....
But due to the awesomeness of this little plane ... and I already glued the new one in. It was super easy to replace , I ordered a motor box a couple weeks ago just to have in case of a crash so I was prepaired for this one.
All I need is a new cowling and a couple peices of covering to patch up two little rips.

We finally got some good weather for flying .....
I only flew the Slick 42" .... I got about 10 flights on it ..... pure fun.
I took the T-28 out to the field .... but it never got out of the car.
I did maiden a cool plane called a Multiplex Parkmaster ... which was awesome ... but unfortunately it had a midair later that day.
One of the wheels randomly broke after a harrier landing .... so some CA fixed that and I was off and flying again .... I already ordered some new wheels and some other things for a couple new projects ...
I have a 3DHS 46" Vyper that I am building ..... I am almost done with the airframe. I just need the servos and ESC and I am ready to finish it.
Omega 130g Motor
Castle ESC 60 Amp (Probably)
Hs-65MG Servos All Around
3DHS Long Throw Servo Arms
3 Cell 2200 mah Batteries .....
It should be really fun .... I can't wait to fly it.
Tomorrow my 3DHS Extra 330 Foamie should arrive ....
I already have the parts ready so I just need to get the airframe.
I watched the build videos already ... before I was a little worried because I have never built an EPP Kit like this before ... but the build videos have me feeling confident ....
Next project after that is a 3DHS 51" Slick
I got some good pictures of my Slick Sunday .... still my favorite plane ...
I need to get some flights on the Yak ... but its just a little to cold .....
I brought out my Dads good camera and he took some really good photos and I did to. I got some really good ones of my friends Parkzone T-28.
I got a little to low with my Slick and put it into the ground no damage and it made a good picture. I really am doing good with the Slick ... now I really want a new 3DHS airframe to play with ... a 48 VR-1 or a 46 Vyper .... or both ...
Christmas is coming soon ... which means I will try to get one ...
