i keep waiting and waiting for the rains to stop. But just when it looks like I may have a chance to do some flying the skys cloud over and the rain starts again. its almost mid April and it is once again raining. Ive been building planes since November with hopes of getting out to the field, but every time the weather decides to ruin any chance of fun...

So after 3 years since i started this project I have finally released plans for my F-243 Hunter. 3 prototypes, countless tweeks to the design, and now anyone can build this plane!

Its been a while since ive really done much here. Im not dead, just been busy with other things. With luck I can start getting back into the hobby and get back to crashing more planes.

Been working on my new F-243 Hunter. this should be an interesting one. Not a true forward swept wing, only about half is forward, more like a "V" wing. Got the idea from the VF-19F, yes, Im going back to my Macross fanboi roots again. My only concern is if I can get the CG where it really needs to be. Given how tight things are in the fuslage of my other F/A-241 and F-242, I dont have a lot of wiggle room for moving things around. Glue is drying on the fuslage and with luck I can start glide test of it soon. That will atleast give me a good idea of what I need to do.

With my F/A-241 Shrike and F-242 Spiker I seem to able to get designs done quicker. So far I have plans going together a plane based off of the YF-X-241 Shrike and for my new F-243 project. I've also been working on plans for the FFR-31 Sylphid from Yukikaze (The main force fighter, not the Super you see Piloted by Rei).

So some big plans on the way. i also hope to revamp my old website will all my plans and build instructions for everything. http://www.outcasthorizon.com

Something I started a while back. I made a vacuum form set up useing an old space heater and vacuum pump from a car. This set up worked well enough but i quickly ran into a few issues and I am now remaking the system from scratch to adress those issues.

The first set up was simple enough. Two boxes that joined together to make a "suitcase", but that could be taken apart to use the two halfs. Kind of like how old typewriters used to come set up with a "suitcase" cover on them (No, im not THAT old, but we had some old stuff around my house when I was a kid).

The heater box was very simple. A space heat removed from its original houseing with a removable extention to hold the plastic over the heat in its frame.

The vacuum box was a simple 18"x12" table covered in foam rubber for a good seal when the heated plastic was placed over the slug to form the plastic. Inside the box was a 4" diameter by 12" long tank that was pumped down to 18hg by use of a car vacuum pump. A lot of cars in the 80's and 90's used these pumps to work valves for climate control systems. A ball valve was used to release the vacuum and suck out the air at high preasure and PULL the palstic around the slug. The tank was there to give a good initial pull while the pump once again would work down the preasure till the plastic cooled.

The set up worked well enough but there where a few problems I ran into.

In my haste to build my set up a number of areas of...Continue Reading

My F/A-241 Shrike. For what ever reason this plane has captured my attention more then any other I have ever made or seen. It is my own design and I know it can do some very impressive things. It pushes my skill level to its limit but can still be tamed back enough for my skill level.

Now I am starting a larger, 40"+ wing span version of this craft. I've printed out the plans for this larger, now KF6 with a dihedral wing, variant and have almost finished cutting them out. I plane to use my TURNIGY Aerodrive C2822 1600Kv Outrunner motor slinging a 7-8" prop on this thing. Possibly also adding on rudders.

I will keep updating this as things go. The only main issue I have right now is the fact I will be moving in the next month.
