I ordered the FW-190 by FMS in the 1400mm size. I went through MotionRC this time. I wanted to try a new outlet. Everything arrived in perfect condition, shipping was stated as 7-10 business days...I had it in 3!!! awesome! I kind of wanted something to go bad in this order so i could test their customer service vs BH but in looking back, i think i am happier this way

Back to the plane. The plane is an easy build and looks great. Very few spots need glue. I checked all the spots they tell you to double check on this plane, grub screws and what have you, nothing seemed out of order. You can use the provided glue on this model too! The tail section is all held together by screws, the only parts that need glue are the wing-to-fuse transition pieces and the optional bomb. I did decide to epoxy the wing together though. After having the Zero of the same size, transportation is not that much harder and its a little easier to put together while on site when you have it all one piece.

pictures (hopefully video too) and maiden to come as soon as weather permits. Will report back with flight details after maiden.

I went to Austin to visit my sister. Since we grew up going to air shows i thought it would be fun to go see the Blue Angels again, it had been years since either of us has seen them. We both love them, you can tell i do bc its one of two EDFs i own. She does as well, last time she was in Omaha to visit me we went to the LHS so i could grab a couple little things and she picked up a Blue Angel kite. Anyway. We made the drive to Houston on 10-27 and the following pics and videos are things i saw that day. I was super excited to see the F-22 Raptor as i have not seen that demonstration before. The day was LOADED with Warbirds galore, Heritage flight, Blue Angels and even a Chevy S-10 fitted with a JET ENGINE!!!! Good times! Without further ado.

(Sad to say i goofed up when recording the F-22 demonstration. I had hit record on accident and didn't realize i was recording when the camera was in my pocket and stopping it while trying to 'record' fly byes)

Here are the pics from my iPod, i will have videos up on youtube and embed them as well as more pics from my gf's camera and my brother-in-laws iPod as soon as they are on my computer. Enjoy!...Continue Reading

Not to fly in winter but basically my last one until my birthday in feb at the earliest. Any way, on with the goods!!!

Got it from Bananahobby. So far i have had no issues with them, so lets leave them out of this.

FMS Mitsubishi A6M Zero 1400mm.

This just came in yesterday and i am going out of town tomorrow so i hope to test all electronics today just to make sure there are no issues. Here are a couple of pics of the plane when i was just goofing around. Updated pics will be added to this post as they are available. Hopefully i can get some video of the maiden when i take it out.

I went a head and got the ARF over the KIT b/c it was only $35 more. Most of the guys, in the above mentioned thread, say that the motor is just fine but they recommend changing out the ESC. There seems to be some sort of communication error between BH and FMS. BH site says it should come with a 50a ESC whereas the manual says it should be a 65a. The guys that changed out the ESC got the 50a but for whatever reason i got the 65a so i am gonna stick with that. I also have a CC 10a BEC that i bought for another plane but never used, that will be getting used on this guy for security measures. i have a couple HS65mg servos sitting around as backups for my 70mm F-18, but i may take one and use it on the elevator on this thing before i ever fly it. I will have to take a closer look at the provided servo and see if i think it can handle the load. My biggest complaint with this plane so...Continue Reading

Everything is done now. The pics show the story so no need to go through it all step by step.

Custom decals via callie-graphics. Check her out, she does good work!

**Disclaimer**
Test all of your paints and primers before applying to foam...ESPECIALLY if it is not noted as being foam safe! I tested everything before i applied it.

Primer: Random no name brand from local auto store
Silver: Its actually a aluminum by DupliColor also at auto store but not the one made for engines.
Red and Yellow: Testors. Some of the red was spray and some was not.

And boy i can not WAIT to get this in the air. Its gonna be fun! My first EDF.

Build will prolly take me a few days. Its my first plane that i had to do more than snap the main wing in and go. I also want to go over this very methodically b/c of the issues i have heard with it. Measure twice cut once, eh?

*update*

Just a quick little video. Did not get the whole flight.

Got this plane shipped via USPS last week but they crunched the box and the main wing was destroyed. Still waiting on the claim. But i have replaced the main wing in the mean time. Took it out for a test flight today and it flew great! No in-flight pics (yet) but will have some soon. This plane came with a different connector than the rest of my batteries so i will be switching that over soon so both my planes can share batteries and the same balancing charger. Here is the one pic i did come home with!

Update: Got out again and got some more pics ...Continue Reading

Took my girlfriend to the field with me. She was frustrated b/c on the camera screen when we left none of these looked too good, but the resolution of her camera proved to be helpful. She snapped some really nice pics. here they are!...Continue Reading

Short time reader, first time blogger. I did the rudder mod to my pkz P-51D Mustang "Gunfighter"

1.) Parts! Push rod and servo. (testing the servo before installation)

2.) Installing the servo. (Glued with hot glue as per suggestion on this forum)

3.) Horn and Push rod installed and ready to go.

4.) Everything attached and ready to go. Cut out the little pieces of foam that hold the rudder in place. I also moved the rudder as far as it would go to one side and put packing tape along the open side of the hinge (repeat on opposite side). Read that these planes sometimes have failure in rudder so i wanted to make sure i beefed it up a little. Will be adding plastic hinges in the near future.
