Bought this kit back in 2017ish, started building it in 2020 as a quarantine project, and finally finished it this week. I tried to stick pretty true to the plans. Ended up coming out way tail heavy, needed to mount the servos more forward. The wing ended up getting fully glued onto the fuse though. For the first flight I joined my local flying club, which I'm glad I finally had an excuse to do. First time at the nice grass field and very friendly folks. It was winds up to about 10mph which made me question if I was going to fly or not. The first few takeoff attempts were unsuccessful. The nose gear a little too much bend in it, and the nose was too low. On the grass, the plane just couldn't get enough speed to ROG. Bent the gear forward, and had a successful takeoff. The plane was thrown around a lot more than I would have anticipated, even with the fact that it came out at 48oz, 2oz over the box weight. With full control throws, I was able to control it just fine though. The landing was pretty simple, touched down slower than I would have guessed. Looking forward to a less windy day to get a better read on how she actually flies.

After a while off and doing full-scale planes for a while, my r/c bug has been bugging me again. Started flying my mSR again, then got a 120SR. Been flying it and loving it! Just ordered a DX7s off the classifieds here, and soon will be getting a mCX BL. It was debate between the 130x and the mCX, but I went with the simplicity of the mCX. It will also fit in my basement better! I'll probably get a plane or two after the new heli, and later on down the road get another Trex 450 or equivalent!

Our first try at installing lights. We used (4) one watt LEDs, and we believe next time we will just use many smaller (3 or 5mm) LEDs through the whole airframe. But we are happy with the results. No flight test has been conducted yet. We don't see any pure night flights in our future, the LEDs just had an added safety feature in case a flight last into the twilight (not to mention they look cool!) The vertical stabilizer was slightly modified to allow the light to travel into the top third.

These photos were really quite impromptu, which explains the lighting/distance, but they are still pretty cool.
I've been running completely stock, with the traxxas 8.4volt 3000Mah NIMHs. I've really been abusing the truck, and I have only noticed the tires coming unglued, and two of the half-axle rubber boots ripping. I think I'm gonna get some 5000Mah's, and maybe some metal battery slot covers to help with the cooling of the batteries, which seem to come out pretty hot....Continue Reading

Named after the Bar-Tailed Godwit, a bird that flys non-stop for 7,200 miles, our UAV system is going to be one of the most advanced hobby-grade UAV systems. Due our funding issue, progress will be slow, with the first components just bought today. You can expect small updates as it goes. I just wanted to stake the name.
Other than that.. we're keeping the details on the low down.

Thanks to everyone on here thats helped me get started (including numb thumbs). Most of the info will be in the picture comments. I'm going to cover the bottom with a "Chrome Diamond Plate" sticker thats being sold in the F/S forums. I think its going to look really good. I'm also waiting for a package from tower hobbies for servo gears for one my HS-81s. I put in the single CF spar, and it really helps. I'm not sure if I'm going to add more, as i dont plan on trying to set a new speed record, lol. My custom motor mount is still an idea, so please feel free to give your input. And has anyone ever reinforced the elevons? They seem like they could bend at speed....Continue Reading

Yesterday while eating dinner I saw a R/C cub flying in the park. I had to go check it out, on the grounds of, theres hardly anyone else flying around here. Well, it turns out it was the man who had recovered my PT-E, and his flying buddy. They were flying a Parkzone cub, and it seemed to flying nicely. Soon the battery was dead on it, and they broke out Parkzones new Cessna 182. the really small plane. The winds we're light, so they tossed it up, and it seemed to flying great. Then he offered to let me fly it! I was thrilled. It turns out it was a blast to fly. Not the easiest thing I've ever flow, but definitely manageable. It was lots of fun to do fly by's at head level two feet in front of us. Just cant do that with bigger planes! I made three really nice landings, which we're really easy considering the baseball field, the wind, and how small the plane and its wheels are. I cant wait for my projeti to arrive, as its been too long since I've flown.
I also found out that i need new bulkheads for my T-maxx. Not critical, but something i have to look into. Maybe some of those nice FLM ones. I just got a gallon of fuel yesterday though, So i plan on running it today. A little cold, but totally worth it.
Just a update on my RC life.. lol.

In the mail, very soon I will have coming a NIB projeti, CC-45 ESC and a Evo20 2500 3S. Im going to power her with HS-81s and a 16-15-3. I cant wait to start posting pictures.
I had a few F-27s, and always had fun with them. My fastest was on a setup known for about 90mph. I also had a VIP pylon racer, which i destroyed after 30sec of its first flight, due to not range checking. (its kind of like totaling a Ferrari, there aren't that many of them). I figured it was time i get a projeti. I just finished reading the "Insanely fast projeti" thread, and i think Im going to build mine close to his. I have never glassed before, so it should be a good learning experience.
Funny note: Firefox is trying to tell me that projeti should be "projectile"

The TT-01 is very cool, but I cant abuse it much. So I decided i was going to get a truck, I traded my trex on the account of Im getting a bigger heli. This tmaxx has lots of upgraded parts, including RPM forks, upgraded shocks, piston and main shaft. It also has a Easy Start 2 system, which is really nice. I plan on putting a 2.4ghz RX that will work with my 3PM on it. Along with a futaba 3305 servo (129oz torque), new 5cell 1600 nimh RX pack, and converting it back to manual shifting with reverse. Ive ran it in the park already, and its tons of fun.

Fuel Cell TT-01 (3 min 56 sec)

Got the car working this week after a long process getting everything needed for the car together. The car runs great, and I have been having a blast. The fuel cell bogs down if I gun the throttle, but other than it, its awesome! Slow accelerations and throttle management are key. After hard turns, the fuel cell will bog down, and I'll back off to give the cell a few second to get back up to speed, then I'm right back on the throttle. After coming in from my last run, which lasted 75 minutes, I decided to add 3 degrees of camber and some toe-out. Tomorrow I plan to test that out, and get some good video. Also tomorrow a bunch of Ferrari's are getting together across the street (awesome neighbors, lol) so I'm going throw the F450 body on it and see if I can fit in. Size doesn't matter right? And one more thing I plan on doing tomorrow is having my friend with a newly bought radar gun to come down and get some speeds off the car.

After being lost for a week, it is home, but never to fly again. I put up flyers, and ended up getting a call late Friday. Tons of the left side of the wing is missing, so much, it just cant be built back up. The fuse was busted up good too. All the electronics's still seems to be good though. It looks likes it went through a tree on the way down. The tail is going to be hung on my wall.

I was coming down from altitude today, and in the middle of a turn, when my plane stopped responding all together from my inputs. It spiraled down somewhere about 200 feet from where i was flying. I couldn't see it go down, because of the trees, and now I have no idea where it is. I had my camera on board, along with a power 25 brushless motor, and a 3S 2200 lipo. It had a 50inch wing span, which i now fear is reduced to nothing.

This is where I am going to post our daily progress of building our fuel cell powered TT-01. Last night, our first night of working, we got through 1-3. So far things are going smoothly, with the exception of the fact that our servo is still back ordered.

Well, the plan of the powering a plane with the H-cell was junked, mainly because it was relised that the plane being able to fly wasnt going to happen. So we went ahead and bought a TT-01R from towerhobbies. The nice thing about the TT-01 is, that the fuelcell is designed to fit right in, without any mods. We also got some other goodies.
