They just don't make 40 size pattern planes anymore so its time to print some plans and start cutting wood.

I really like the look of the 60 size Atlas, Wolfgang Matt won the Tournament of Champions with it in 1975; the Mini-Atlas and the Mattlas 40 followed sometime after that.

The Mini-Atlas was designed by an Englishman named Dave Parker and was based on the Atlas, I like the plans...they appear straight forward and the wing is all wood like the 60 size version. If your interested in a copy of the plans they can be found below.


I had two sets printed by RCG member hemikiller - he does great work for a very reasonable price.

This build is not going to be very fast as I'm still in the middle of another build; I figured I could start by ordering wood and collecting other parts - I've made a list of the necessary wood needed for the kit.
