For The Winch Doc
After seeing the Doc making sweet backwoods music on one of these at Cape Blanco last year, I decided this was way to cool of a project to not try.
You can bust one of these things out for less than $50, or even much cheaper if you pass up on some of the fancy stuff like real fret wire, and tuning pegs.
If you plan on giving it a run, here are two great resources that'll get your creative juices salivating profusely.

And since I am a horrible guitar player (and I use the term player loosely) there will be no video of me playing this thing but I assure you that these things have the sweetest down in the bayou old school twang you have ever heard.
