My little blue bobber got defected today . I'm not really surprised and I can't complain too much about that, seeing as I know as well as anyone that it doesn't meet design rules in it's current form. So that's ok. What really got my goat was the cop's attitude. First he demanded whether I was licenced and the bike was rego'd and he seemed a bit disappointed when he learned that I am, and it is. Just taking it for a test run are ya? No dude i've been riding it like this for 6 months. Then he asked whether I had an engineers certificate for the mods to the bike. I told him it's standard and unmodified, apart from the mudguards (or lack of), exhaust and a few bolt on bits. No, he insisted, that frame's been raked and the forks don't look standard either. I convinced him that seeing it's going to the pits anyway, let's let the experts decide. Then he asks what kind of bike it is and when was it made? Hang on, he just told me he thought the frame was modded and non standard forks, and he doesn't even know what it is? So he's going to defect a bike he thinks was built back when some of the rules he's applying weren't even written. Nice one. He thinks is a 70's Brit bike for gawds sake. It freakin' sh!ts me to tears that there are clowns out there with the authority to condemn a machine to Regency Park with no subject knowledge and because they don't like the look of it. I got an idea, police. just mind your own business and do the police work and let the engineers and mechanics do the engineering and mechanicking.
On the other hand, he didn't give me a $600 fine for an obscured number plate so I guess it was worth my while not being too rude.
So, back on with the boring bits for a trip to Regency. Hooray.
Rant over.

The mystery carbon tube is part of the wing peg. Dremel out a hole in the wing saddle where the peg goes. Make it oversize. Put some sika, silicone, whatever, on the outside of the tube, put it in the hole making sure the glue fills the gap between tube and hole and fit the wing with peg and let the glue set. When it's set you have a peg hole in perfect location retained by a kind of rubbery bush.
