well just like the 450 SEv2 versions (FP) I built,,Im going to build a 450 PRO kit and see if there is any improvements...I am doc. the steps since a 450pro is more of a pain to put together than a typical 450 se..
1st step-boil the skids to soften them up, then boom and tail/belt install. and servo install..( I love the 1 peice boom assmb.) more to come.
.
.
update,, project finished (just have to adj. linkage) ,once I started on this I could not stop, so instead of a step by step, I will just provide a parts list of what I used to make it work..
.
.
update--I originally built the 450pro to be a FP, (and in that config. it flies well)
but a Pro kit was better suited in CP mode, so thats were it stays,,
in CP mode the Pro beats the Se and is a lot crisper for 3-d action

another HK450 FP build,,,,,the first one worked so good, why not build another??

well to go along with the HK250 FP conversion,,I decided to try a HK450 FP..
the A.R.F. breakdown price list as follows..
.
-HK 450 metal/plastic kit...........................................$27
Align main shaft ........................$7
eco 3s 30c 2200mah........................................... ....$19
HK SSH 50 amp esc............................................... .$11
HK 5a/5v ext. bec.......................$4
Turnigy h2215 3550kv heli motor.............................$13
11t hardened pinion..................$5
ga 250 gyro.............................................. .................$11
fx 052 complete head assm.all stock........................$11
HXT900 cyclic and tail servo`s x 4............................$12
.
no tx/rx included..................................A.R.F. total===$120.........tax and shipping not incl.(of course)
.
it hovers at 30% thrott on its first test flight...so things look promising....

well after reasearching other peoples builds I decided to build my own version
without having to sell the house to do so.....

-------------HK 450sev2 cf/alloy kit
*** for safety reasons I upgraded to
-Align main and feathering shaft
-Align tail boom and belt (alot stronger than stk)
-Align landing skid (stk. one broke on hard landing, it tipped and trashed main blades, feather and main shaft)
-Align hardware kit --the stock hardware is soft, weird head sizes, strip easy--hard to keep things tight like that....

------------budget electronics---they work good though...
- -HXT 900 cyclic servos (good price and stong enuff)
- -Ds76t tail servo (from my 300x and yes I cheated on the budget)
actually have used the HXT 900 as a tail servo--not as fast but good for sport flying
- -detrum gy48v gyro----upgraded to ga-250 since...(works better for me and has more prog. options)
- -HK-SSH50A 50 amp esc with internal bec disengaged..and using a 5a/5v external bec--its also stick proggy.
- -Turn. typhoon 450H 2215 3550kv motor---11 tooth pinion (stays cool)
- -325mm HK grade cf main blades ($9 why not)
- -Trueblood t-rex 450se red head dampeners (stk ones too soft and sloppy)
- -Ecopower "Electron" 3s 30c 2200mah-----works for now
***I only use Spectrum rx/tx for all my heli`s and planes ,,there are other cheaper options that work well but Im die hard with Spectrum stuff

this list is my opinion on what works for me (great for sport flying,,ok for very very mild 3-d)
like I said----BUDGET is the key word

well just like anything out of the box ,,you NEED upgrades,,,,
flying a bone stock 300x for me was a challange.......

but now things have changed..
--Lynx cf main frame support
--Asteroid designs frame support (other side)
--Lynx ultra hard head dampeners
--Blade cf main blades
--Lynx slant gear and o.w.b. hub (its heaven) *not pictured
--boiled the landing gear (softens it up) and use the zip tie attachment (to save the frame in a hard landing)
-----stk. motor (loctite upgrade) and esc are still holding----why, I dont know..

I`m still in T.T.A. mode (Total Thrash Around) with this so the slant gear and hub I keep in the pit (use only on special dates )
moving the beastx on top of the boom block helped eliminate exposing the unit to vibes and making access to adj. easier.....

havent found a solution to the poo poo main shaft prob.but with less vibes it seems to hold up fine
--as far as bling,,just a Al. a.r. bracket,, the rest is stk. plastic less$$ and holds up well enuff
---all the bling I will add later (use only on special dates )
-oh yeah,,the stk. servos work good enuff (if you dont crash) just keep spare gear sets handy---cheaper alternative to superman type servos..

I`ve been spending most of my time in the CP world of flight (fbl and 3-d action)and love it however......

since I started flyin heli`s using FP(low grade stuff) and seeing how some forum members have produced some crazy and serious FP monsters using homemade ideas and tech. knowledge, and make things that should not work- work well,,,,,,,I decided to build my own and go back to where it all started for me.......

starting with a HK250gt kit.......it has worked out so well I might convert one of my 450`s (just to see what happens)...

the green moster is version 2, it has an external 5v/3a bec, 12 tooth pinion instead of the stock 15 (made to much heat in the esc and motor) new align 250 one piece skids and a paddled flybar which I will be constantly adjusting till its right (hopefully with good payoff),,,,,,,,,all the other stats are the same as version 1

after trashing 2 sets of stk. landing skids and one set of cf skids (splintered beyond repair)...
I decided to reconstruct the stk. ones using sleeves made from plastic q-tips..(havnt broken since)
the tail boom mod. is 3/4" over stk. length, and the solid cf rod cost $4.65 for a 2mm x 1016mm(40 inch) length rod..--plenty of spares there....(wires are external and held in place with heat shrink tubing)..
a longer boom gives better tail auth...
of course the micro heli swash for more durability and accuracy over stk..

I use this DD settup for CQF (close quarters flying) ,,it helps eliminate the weather vein effect for tight flying in slightly windy conditions,,,for FFF I put the stabs. back on to ease strain on the tail motor at higher speeds....less wind effect and lighter weight gives me more tail authority-but CQF heats up the tail motor a little more........cant win em all.

These are some more mods for the 9116 ........the tubing on the skids are for shock dampening, the DD motor for the tail is from a blade sr (# n60), everything else is hand fab.

I have bedded many brushed (some of us still use these) motors this way,,do not use tap water...either let motor dry out or use brake or electrical contact spray to flush remaining water (car brake spray is cheaper),,,slightly oil bearing (pinion side) and if your careful oil the comm side bearing(ever so slightly)--- this type of break in keeps motor cool reducing hot spots on the comm. and flushes any debris out.........
distilled h20 break in (0 min 21 sec)
