2 flights today including the maiden of my brand new white and green SU-31, my favorite aircraft already, first flight was 7 minutes long, i had her setup for sport and not 3D, she flew rock solid and as if she was on rails, minor aerobatics, such as loops, rolls, nose over's, a single prop hang, i'm learning quick since this is my first 3D plane(my dad decided to skip a faomie 3D plane and went straight to buying me this balsa aircraft), i love this plane, its my first airplane that i can really fell has a awesome presence up there in the air, my first landing was not perfect and one of the plastic stock main gear wheels with minor faom lining cracked, and had to replace it with extra P-40 wheels witch were actually made of rubber and had air in them. my second flight was about one minute longer and i did more aerobatics and more of the time at lower altitude, my second landing was pretty much perfect, but since the main landing gear wheels had actual air in them the plane bounce a few times! i eventually taxied it to my feet. love this plane.

i'm looking for a good south orange county flying field, i'll be doing almost all my flying there in a few weeks, so if anyone could tell me any that would be great, i have a plane callled the bird of prey wich is a high performance combat airplane, but in five minutes you can take the motor out and put in a smaller battery and do slope soaring, so any suitable flyingfield would be much appreciated, thanks.

Bird of prey flight #1: July 4th, 2007, 6 seconds long, my brother tossed the airplane and nosed down right to the bottom of the hill we were on, as he applied full up elevator the nose went up, and for a nano second it sorta hovered, nose up, then sped of to the end of the field, the unfound engine problem made the airplane to begin to stall, so my brother did a climbing left turn( still on full up elevator), after turning 180 degrees it began to roll to much, so he leveled it out, turned of the motor, and landed it on the hill( still on full up elevator, go to my second blog entry wich should be called build blog on the bird of prey if you want to see its killer paint job hehehehe.
Twin Jet flight#1: August 28th, 2007, about 8 minutes long, it was the maiden so all i did was fly circles around the field, landing had to much angle of attack, or alpha, or for those newbies, the nose was up 30+ degrees when it landed, even though it doesnt have landing gear, the high alpha landing was relatively smooth.
Twin Jet flight #2: August 28th, 2007, 9 minutes long, on this flight i did allitle more, i found out it had unlimited vertical , wich was unexpected, i practiced banks, loops, and rolls, on my first roll, i wanted it to roll once, it rolled twice, i didnt quite expect 3 rolls a second on low rates at 50%throttle , landing was the same as last time, next few flights are tomorow.
Twin Jet flight #3: August 30th, 2007, 9 minutes long, i was still geting used to the...Continue Reading

i recently got an idea that may be stupid, but also effective, how about getting one of those foam stands (or make one yourself for this special purpose), and attaching wheels to it. put your faom plane on the stand and ramp up the throttle, and at appropiate takeoff speeds it lifts from the stand, of course i have never tried this and after takeoff you have a faom stand in the middle of the field. please, suggest ideas and critisize it. making a custom takeoff platform would be better though, i'm just wondering how feasible it is.

just maidened my second plane, the multiplex twin jet with brushless upgrade, unlimited verical, 2-3 rolls a second in low rates, tight turns, relatively easy to land, love that 2 motor sound, speed and acceleration, best plane i ever flew, ( though i have only flown a easystar( one with a brushless upgrade), and a small balsa glider called the talon, cant wait to fly again, sounds like a good dogfighter to me, review will come soon.

see guys, i ironically went for a vacation to kansas to see my brother( he's in vet school there). and so last tuesday we decided to go camping around his favorite flying flying spot at lake wilson. so it was tuesday and we decided to go flying, he brought his brand new thermic and his 3 or 4 yr old balsa talon. since i was a ezstar veteran with about 200+ flights on it 50 of those with a brushless upgrade, since my bro always flies sailplanes his talon became the plane i flew and the thermic the plane he would fly. after a 30 mins of flying the wind died down and we went back to the camp site.about a hour and a half later we went back to the hill, with the thermic and the talon, plus, he had also brought his carbon fibre protige in a pylon racing setup, all sailplanes.
i was flying the balsa talon with ease and he was flying the protige doing stunts with it and we were both having tons of fun.then, 45 minutes into flying it happened... i was lazily flying left to right along the hill, and my brother in the protige came at a right angle to me, passed me, he put the nose up, kicked left rudder in a nose over, he thought i was going fast enough and that he would pass harmlessly behind me. it wasnt quite so harmless, when i realized we were way to close i tried to turn a way from him but to late, crack, the protige's carbon fibre wing cut right through the balsa talon's left wing riping the aileron right off and splitting the wing in 2. " the protige didnt even budge" my brother said, didnt even quiver or anything , it just ripped right through . we retrieved the plane and most of the wing, but never could find the aileron...

the motor on my bird of prey just doesnt seem to even have half the power it should, you'll put it on full throttle and even a speed 400 screams louder! if u hold the plane it barely gets any push, and then the power cycles up and down. i have a fiegao brushless motor for 36 amps, a 35 amp avionics esc, and a 8 cell nimh battery, but instead of the batteries being in a square, there all lined up in a row, gyro hobbies didnt have anything else , heres a link to the build log https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...=699970&page=2 , pics are on pages 1 and 2, help please!!!!!! any help at all ismuch appreciated, it just wont fly on so little power, iv'e tried and it wont,

pretty much what the title sais, i'll maiden the bird of prey most likely july 3rd or with her usaf markings on the 4th of july, field of your chioce ! so i'll dogfight ya anytime after i maiden the bird of prey, or if you have the ezstar, before i maiden the bird of prey, we could have alittle air-to-air with our 2 ezstars. if you have any special dogfight eequipment thats welcome, usually i just keep it simple and try to stay at my foes tail as long as i can, or contact combat ! i have about ten of my dogfights written on my first 2 blogs, any challenges are welcome, i usually fly at the costa mesa saoring community with my ezstar ironically, an when i get the bird of prey i'll fly at the costa mesa field and a flying place right by oneill park. challenges are welcome.
