4.2 has been modified to be lighter over all so as to accommodate a bigger batt. Also the stabilizer alph has been reduced to As close to zero as I can get it. On the last flight the plane flew straighter with out the tail wash but the CG was off still and the result was a loop to crash. So the CG is the problem, the power is pretty good. Not sure how to balance it out.

New plane, single motor this time. Target wt 30g. Ws 35cm.
Target weight for airframe would need to be about 8 grams for me to break 30 it's a12 g atm.
Wings at 6.7 need 5.2
Fuse 3.3 need 2.5
Tail need 1
Maybe it should be a twin motor?

Measured thrust, echarger case, gws rotor, 200mah 30c, 12 grams with longer nacelle.
Inductrix rotor did a little better at 14 grams

So target weight should be at 25 grams, flight pack 19 g 6 gram airframe.

Lighter battery and better tail didn't make it fly any better. CG is off. With a heavier batt. 4.2 flew ok but only one circle. This will be the last mod for 4.2 to heavier batt and CG adjustment and new trim adjustment. Power from the twin motors was very strong so I'm convinced it will fly once the CG is correct. Control surfaces seemed to be good as the plane could turn although very sensitive at the slow speed. I'll suspend work after next flight to put lighter wings and adjust the flight pack.

Same stats but weight at: 36g

Version 4 is coming together as a twin 30mm edf, 7mm motors, 3 channel plane.
Ws is 350 mm
Rx is 4.7 gram tactic combo, 4 amps
Weight atm is 34 grams w/180mah batt.

I hope the rather gigantic wings will help it fly. I don't think I reached 24 grams thrust so this could be a hairy maiden.

I may branch out to some of the really great modern airframes but for now I pretty much build from a handful of war era drawings of the first jet aircraft. Most all my scratch builds are depictions of FWJP 45 - 47 that can be found at, and everything I've learned about electric flight I learned here at rcgroups.
