Over the winter months and due to pandemic restrictions giving lots of pass time I decided to do up a an ARF. I already had the electronics from a deceased Extra. This would be my second attempt at adding weathering. Pics are at various stages. Pilot was repainted from the kit, paint chipping added, motor detail, weathering and a change to the canopy. F6Fs from this squadron did not have the rear window so it was filled in to make it correct. I used 3 Hellcat books for reference.

Zzzzzz can't believe I have posted here for such a long time. I have added to my Multiplex family recently with a modified Xeno and Twinjet. The Twinjet sounds neat being twin motors and still has some speed to turn heads. Not as fast as the Funjet or Microjet but still respectable and I have always wanted a twin project to do. I used 2 T F80 2200 Kv drone racing motors on 4s. I think this is 5s capable. The Xeno is the sedate one of the group with a Eflite 480 on 3s and folding prop. I couldn't find a power pod/motor for it so it was modified with a motor mount from Windrider RC. It's more of a climb and glide airplane but heavier than I would like as I had to add 2 1/2oz nose weight. More new stuff to come.

Finally finished off the Kyosho Ki-61 Hien in September but bad weather and a health issue prevented me from getting it in the air until October. Only 3 flights so far but it looks promising and has great presence in the air. Lots of frustrating fiddling with the retract inside doors. Some minor details to add antenna and exhaust stacks. Wasn't much room in the cockpit to do much detailing. Motor is an Eflite 52 on a 4000 mah 5S and pulls it around with no issues.

The delay in getting the Hien finished was due to the building of my Art Hobby Silent 3.4 motor glider for local contests. The surfaces are finished with water based polyurethane that was mixed with artist airbrush quality acrylic paint for the color. This was sprayed on with a touch up gun at low pressure. I used programming template from Red Sailplane to set up the plane on my DX-9 and it flew great with only minor tweaks. Weather has been so poor this year that my last flight was in mid August

Picked up a Koyosho Ki-61 Hein 50 size electric version. Still on the table and will have to wait for spring now as the weather has turned. Love the looks of this plane and you don't see them all to often at the field.

Built a NIB Multiplex Micro Jet bought of groups here. Has a Eflite Series Six inrunner currently running on 3S. Decent speed on 3 cells but will work on getting a 4S pack in this thing. My FJ Ultra needed company

Blejzyk Tom from Aloft Hobbies flying on 4S. Nice intro to F5B style flying. Probably in the 120 mph range motor on. I was surprised at how well this plane thermals. This was one of my favorite builds this year and love flying it.

Het F-20 ARF I got from a friend last fall. 70 mm fan on 4S but will be bumping up to 5S after an over hall. ESC gave me some issues and cut out landing it in a rough field. So she will need minor TLC. Looks great in the air,

Some new builds this year. Latest for indoor Extra 330 from RC Factory which now has thrust vectoring. Does some pretty cool flat turns and knife edge loops.

RC Factory F-22 that I modified. Went from the basic 2 servo model to 6 servos. Elevators are separate from ailerons but are also mixed in on a 3 position switch. Position 0 - no mix, position 1 - aileron mixed to elevator (up elevator- up aileron and vice versa) for high alpha flight, position 2 - full taileron elevator to aileron so elevators also act as aileron. Rudders are also on 2 servos but have no mixing yet. Really changes this plane can can be turned by rudders very effectively.

Arthobby Endura 2.5M electric glider. Nice flyer and thermals very well. Can't really keep up to the 3.5-4M gliders but for it's size does very well.

Another recent addition is my Koyosho Oxalys. My attempt to start pattern flying. Nice flyer with no coupling issues. Now I just need to get out and practice

Did some more painting on the F7U and added the stars and bars. Might add a few more details in paint. I couldn't find any dazzling schemes for the Cutlass on Google and ended up using this one.

Only a couple of nights to get to this stage. Used a 6mm depron sheet I found in my stock pile. This thing looked bigger on the plans sheet. It's actually a bit smaller than my other prop jets so it will get a smaller motor and run on 2S. Not to much selection for colour plates on google. This is the only decent colour plate I could find. Anybody got anything better?

Prop in slot Saab 35 Draken. Plans available in the pusher prop models section of RC Groups. Made from 3mm and 6mm Cell foam and airbrushed with enamels and some acrylics. Haven't flown this one yet but it should be pretty fast on 3S flying indoor in the dome. He,he......
Me-163 Komet is made from 9mm EPP, enamels and acrylic airbrushed. Flys great on 2S and looks great in the air.
Maybe one more indoor project yet to come from EPP and that will be F7U Cutlass before I start some outdoor projects.

Been working on a new speed ship with hopes of passing my Fun Jet Ultra. Bigger is better, right? My set up included the motor from an EFlite Scimitar 32 size 1010 Kv, APC 9x9 prop, 100 amp ESC, 5 to 6S 3300 mah lipo. No room for 100 amp ESC inside with these battery sizes so it got mounted on top. Maiden with 5S and no issues. Slowing it down at altitude and adding full elevator showed straight forward high alpha and no stall. Plane flies as advertised like it's on rails. Five S showed she had good speed, motor, ESC and battery all cool. Tried 6S and it looks like its in the 170 mph and up range. I didn't mount the GPS today unfortunately. On my fourth flight I tried to see how fast the roll rate was and then something let go! That was the end of my new Bullit. The motor was planted about 8" into our mud/clay soil and took 1/2 hour just to get that sucker out using broken prop blades to dig around it. If the motor survives after cleaning I'll try another one.

I have been gradually bumping up the speed on my FunJet Ultra. The last setup used 5S 3300 Mah battery, 80 amp esc, motor is from a Parkzone Stryker Q 2200 kv and APC 6 x 5.5 plastic prop. Best speed was with a 30 Kph (18 mph ) tailwind and I achieved 276 Kph or 172 mph. I found some carbon APC 5.5 x 6.5 props and thought these should help bump up the speed. I had the opportunity to try them out today and made 286.7 Kph (177 Mph) and the wind was cross wind so no effect. I think with some new and better quality batteries 180 Mph will be possible.

Been running the Ultra FJ on 5S for a while now. The motor is still holding up with a APC 6 x 5.5 prop. Changed out the T connector for 5.5 mm bullets and this seemed to free up more electrons and I was able to achieve 158 mph with no wind assist. Recently I was able to get to 172 mph with about a 15 mph tail wind. I had one flight recently were I tried pulling a really high G turn and the FJ's low wing stalled making it snap hard and roll 90 degrees to inverted! A quick throttle cut saved it but sure gets your attention. (edit, turns out to be a bad servo that would deflect about an inch once 60 % throttle was hit not a stall) I am considering going to 6S and dropping the prop size to APC 5.25 x 6.25. Hopefully the increased RPM and higher pitch will get some more speed.

Added a few more planes. Modeltech Demon 3D is very lightly loaded aerobat on 4S at 52" span.
I recently rebuilt my Kunai after a midair with a gasser. Added full span flapperons, gutted the inside of the fuse and removed everything. Recovered with lighter covering , no rudder servo as it is fixed now and put the elevator servo in the fin base. This frees up the pod to move the 3S battery back for a better CG. I found 1250 mah long packs at HK which are skinny and can slide further back in the pod. Flies very well and thermals nicely. Pretty hot climb too with the stock motor.

A few changes have added some more speed to both. I didn't want to change the ESC or motors so props and batteries got tuned in. The Fun Jet still flying on 4S but I cut down a APC 4.75 x 5.5 to 4.1 x 5.5 and she picked up a few mph.
The Ultra Fun Jet went to 5S on the Stryker Q motor and uses a APC 6 x 5.5. Static drawing 80 amps for 1600 watts. I picked up a Quanum GPS from HK. This thing is pretty accurate. Tested it in my truck with the cruise control set. I was able to get readings on both jets. The Funjet made 133 mph and the Ultra Fun Jet came in at 151 mph on a beat up battery.

Flying lots so I haven't posted for a while. I have some news on some of my planes. My Invictus has proven to be as fast as any of the local EF1's and handles well. The Sig SBach is an excellent airplane and I really enjoyed flying it. It did have a mishap which cost me the fuse and I think it was due to a radio failure shortly before landing.
Very fun and it helped me hone some more aerobatic skills. I plan to resurrect it for sure.
I reconfigured my green Funjet to a APC 4.1x4.1 and went to 4S which pumped up the speed a lot. Sounds more like a ducted fan model now with that little prop. It's almost as fast as my Ultra Fun Jet.
I finally got a Doppler reading on my Ultra Funjet but only one reading that was upwind. The wind was about 15 mph and about 45 deg to the flight line. It made a nice pass at 143 mph! I changed the battery to a 65C 4S 3300 mah because I had cooked a few other batteries. Pretty happy to achieve this, for now!

I liked my Fun Jet so much I had to do another, only faster! My first Fun Jet (green/black) has an NTM 28-36, 3000 kv motor, 3S with a 4.75x5.5 APC prop. Pretty fast. The Ultra (orange/white) has a Stryker Q 2200 kv motor on 4S with a 7x5 APC prop. This set up sounds narly! It is definitly faster than my first FJ. Need to get a radar gun on it.

After a good season of indoor flying foamies outdoor weather has arrived. This winters builds have included a new EF1 Invictus and Sig Sbach for 32E. Maiden of the Invictus went well and it's a solid performer. Assembly was fairly simple for such a nice flying airplane. I have yet to fly the Sbach but I am really looking forward to it. Still working on a new ALES 2.7M Odyssey for competitions.

Finally some warmer temps have shown up. I flew it yesterday for the first time and it was a nice calm day perfect for trimming her out. It went perfectly straight up on the HiStart. A bit of trimming and removal of nose weight and she flew beautifully and thermaled nicely. Turns, once banked where holding without any input on the sticks so I think I got the dihedral right on. The biggest surprise was the amount of elevator mix need when the one piece central spoiler was deployed. On my original Thermic with two spoilers and being equal area it only required about 17% up elevator mix to keep it level. The new one requires 40%! It is very effective though.

We have had a very long winter here as compared to the last few years. Usually I would have had a few outdoor flights in by now but we still have a lot of snow on the ground and it's not leaving quick enough! A long winter though means lots of building/assembling airplanes. These are all ready for the air and two still to come are a new RES glider and a 1/12 scale FW-190 electric. I've completed the interior today along with a bomb for a release mechanism I have. It's just fun scale so not real accurate for the interior.
The F-18 is a HET kit with 70mm fan and HET 2W-20 motor on 4S. My first 70mm jet and I'm getting anxious to fly her.
Multiplex Fun jet has the power system that drove my Mini Mach Racer to over 100 mph. This should be much easier to see! I could also up this to a 4S battery where as I could only fit a 3S in the Mach.
The Scimitar is a big beefy airplane compared to my old reliable Stryker. Hope that vectored thrust adds to the fun element. The Stryker has sure been a fun airplane to fly and it's one I always take with me to the field.
Beside my T-45 Goshawk is a 50mm Screamer EDF. I modified a 6 blade fan to 3 blades so I could run a 5300 kv 20mm inrunner in it. Hopefully once on step it'll be faster than the other modified Sky Angel planes at our field. I've test it static on 3s and at 11 volts it put out 12 oz thrust at 51000 rpm. So i'm at 1:1 thrust ratio static and hopefully fast!

After the success of my previous prop jet builds I decided to design one for myself. There are a few Rafale designs out there but none of just the flat foam variety. I also designed it more for indoor flying so it is lighter and less power than the typical flat foam pusher jet. I used a Turnigy 1811-2000 Kv motor on 2S which powers it OK but I think I'll up it to the 2900 Kv motor for a little more speed. It flies very well and looks great in the air!

Finished this up today and will try it out tonight at indoor. Techone M-Zone that has micro 4-Site gear installed. Weighs in at 32 grams with battery so hopefully it'll be a good flyer.

Flies very nice! The carbon rods make for a very stiff airframe with the milled depron. Power is good and handles nicely. I really like this one
