Take a look at what we have so far and then please give me ideas on how to really polish this thing up so it is really slick. Car wax maybe? Also any tips on how to make this thing fast would be great. Thanks... this has been a blast so far. My son and I have had a lot of fun making this together!

It will pull the Mini SC straight up forever with an 8 x 4 prop, but it will also fly for about 16 minutes at half throttle or less with a 460 mAh 3 cell lipo.
I used HS-55 servos. I put tires from the Original Super Cub on mine so the prop didn't hit the ground when landing. What a fun plane.

It is time to get the skis out. There is nothing like the sound of a super cub landing on snow in the dead of winter when the air is crisp and there is no other sound to be heard!

By the way, I have never had a problem without a tail ski. The tail wheel just follows along Actually sometimes I have a hard time getting the super cub to stop when it lands on snow, I think the tail wheel probably helps slow it down just a little.

I love flying my Super Cub late at night! It is usually completely calm once the sun goes down... I have attached some pics of the LEDs that I use, and they really work great. I have 6 sets of them on my completely stock super cub and the weight does not affect it at all.

In the first video, I was running the camera as well as flying the plane but I hired a camera man for the 2nd video It is much more smooth and he got some cool moon shots, loops, and a nice landing.

I found this camera on sale at Office Max and I had to take it home and try it out. http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQueri...&pq-path=12417 The Spec sheet said that it weighed 4.1ounces so I knew that my stock Super Cub (with 3 cell lipo and 10x6DD prop) would be able to lift it just fine. After installing the included li-ion battery and 2 GB memory card I weighed it with a digital scale and it came out to be a little over 5 ounces. Not bad. So I strapped it on the Super Cub with rubber bands and gave it a try. WOW! You will see what I mean when you watch the video below. The only thing that I need to do is rig up a servo so I can use it to take pictures. The quality is great for the price. You can't beat a 10 megapixel cam that shoots HD video for $159. I honestly haven't seen any videos that match this quality EVER. I included some quick and rather sloppy pics of how I mount it, but you will get the idea. I was pressed for time. There are 2 main rubber bands holding the cam against the fuselage. The other rubber bands that you see are holding the velcro onto the back of the camera. This way I don't have to stick the velcro to the camera screen. The rubber bands are good enough but the velcro is for cheap insurance

I decided that my 2nd super cub needed a park 480 and ailerons instead of simply running the stock motor/gearbox with Lipo and Spektrum.
This is what is powering it now...
1800-2200 mAh Lipo
E-flite 40amp esc
E-Flite Park 480
APC-E 10x5 prop
Now using GWS 10x6DD prop. (better vertical, better flight at slow speeds)
(4) S-75 Servos
AR6200 Receiver
Weight is 578 grams without battery (20.4 ounces)
I used Chuck's guide for installing the motor: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/member.php?u=106813 You will have to look through his archives to find it... I think he posted it back in 2006 or 2007.


With the above setup, this plane flies nice and slow like the original Super Cub but it will handle a stiff wind as well. I am also able to carry a pretty heavy camera with the extra power that the motor provides. It will go vertical (forever) but not quite like a 3D plane. I am really happy with the results!

Here is some info on my second Super Cub. I this one set up with my dx-7 and ar6200 receiver. I am using the stock motor and gearbox with an electrifly c-35 esc. I installed the servos that came with my dx-7 microlite and plan on adding ailerons at some point in the future. As it is right now, this plane will fly inverted for any amount of time and will easily carry 7 ounces of extra weight if needed. The decals that I used were cut out of a strip of monokote trim stickers. This plane is a blast to fly. I should also mention that I use a GWS 10x6 DD prop on this plane and I am able to run it full throttle all day without the motor or esc getting anywhere past warm to the touch....Continue Reading

These are a few pics of the flaps that I have installed on my T-28 Trojan. I did my best to make it look like the plane came with the flaps on them... and all I used was a super sharp knife, ruler, sand paper, and hinge tape.
I did not include any pics on the "making process" but if you scroll up to my blog entry on "making ailerons" you will see the same process (but how it was done on my Super Cub)
