Rebuilt a Stryker I had only flown once. Put an old Tower Pro motor (unsure of kv), 18 amp mag 8 esc, 1000 20c 3 cell, 2 9gr servos, and AR400 rx. Flew slowish but with authority to loop. Not unlimited vertical. Was shooting for something lighter than stock for smaller parks. Video next flight...

Grey skies at Makapu'u the other day. Typically windy but great flying when it's not. Although risky flying over water. Some occasional slope soaring from the cliff behind this shot but mostly paragliders and hang gliders land here.

I've read about using denatured alcohol as a quick release for hot glue. I tried regular drugstore isopropyl alcohol and it was a clean break in 5 seconds. Game changer.

Been reading about the Robbe Gemini and Larry's Capricorn for a while now. I thought i'd get around to buying a Gemini but due to the difficulty of finding one and expense, i figured i'd build one.

This is made out of Cellfoam, similar to depron. 10mm in the center and 6 mm on the outer wings. Epp sponsons. Lightly glue gunned together, it will be powered by a blue wonder 1500 kv motor, 2s800 . 18 amp esc, and probably an 8x4 gws prop. I gotta add the gear and weigh it still. Hopefully maiden next weekend. Just wanted to post some pics of the build.

This is a plane my Grandfather built. Probably in 92-93 or so. He was a B-17 pilot in WW2.

I remember him being very excited about the future of electric flight although i wasn't into the hobby at the time. I always went to the field with him as a kid and watched him fly gas planes. Due to the delicate nature and expense, i never got into it until recently.

He passed away in 96 and left a lot of gadgets behind. He lived in Kansas City and i'm now in Hawaii. I would have brought everything back with me but i was only able to get this one. I drove it to Denver and my Mom later flew it back at her side. I don't think it would have made it shipped. It's a beautifully crafted plane.

Just wanted to post some pics of it. Does anybody know if this was a kit or a specific model? I do know it was supposed to be electric and it seems pretty custom. Heres to you Grandpa.

I had a lipo burst into flames tonight. I was lucky there wasn't more damage. It happened in between my computer, monitor, and external hard drive. I make websites for a living so theres a good 5 years of work. It was a Thunderpower 2 cell and a GWS charger c3-lp. It plugs into the wall and charges both 2 and 3 cells. Both are just a few months old and used maybe twice a week. Anyhow, i plugged a 2 cell into the 3 cell adapter, doh! I've always been really careful with this, just not careful enough. Only 1 adapter at a time from now on. I threw half a cup of coffee at it. Just had time to burn my desk a little. Just a reminder, don't be dumb like me.

Just a little about me and my toys. I'm 37, live in Honolulu, Hawaii, and make websites for a living.I began with a couple Aero Aces last winter, then a Storm Launcher, and now a brushless Superflea lite. My Superflea lite is my first real plane. The reviews are true, it's amazing. I look forward to learning to fly it better. Just the Air Hogs stuff and lots of sim time and i can keep the Flea in the air pretty good. My name is John and i'm an rc addict.

I'm already thinking about my next project. I'm thinking about either a Robbe Gemini or a slofly.com 3d plane. Probably not for 6 months or so though. Half the fun is researching and planning so i'll look forward to that.

Feel free to pm me if you have any good advice along the way. Mahalo
