Saturday brought a nice sized crowd to the East side. The wind was out of the NE, but shifted toward a more Easterly direction by noon. Several of us started out in the NE bowl, which was actually good considering the light winds, about 5-7mph. With WM still working on the main top section. we had to work our way around to the East gingerly. The rest of the afternoon was pretty good. The wind went up and down, but at times it was about 10-12mph, which made for some great sloping.
This next weekend several of us are heading to the Tangerine soaring contest in Ocala. I think we may be missing out on some awesome flying. The preliminary weather reports for Pompano are showing a 20+mph East wind. Should be great!

Lift was spotty, but we did have broad strong thermals frequently rolling through.

We had a cold front roll in this weekend. It definitely made conditions more comfortable. But it gave us mixed results on the slope. We had a 20mph West wind on the hill. Normally, this would be great. It was however, very turbulent on the slope and kept rotating off the West slope with a WNW to NW tangent. As par for the course, the air smoothed out at 1PM and the flying became excellent. Of course we had to leave at 2PM. Oh well, there’s always next weekend.
