Ok so my first creation off the 3d printer from my own designed file.

Took me an hour or so to create it, as it was my actual first ever design done from scratch in Autocad. Absolutely love autocad! It lets you do almost anything you want, it's just a steep learning curve as i found out.

So here's the first bit, the front cover for my fpv cam. The board fits nice and snug in there, with clearance for electronics. Still have to do the backplate for it, i imagine i'll have that done today.

No more taping or gluing bare boards to my planes!

So a few months ago i decided to get into 3D printing...

Well, that's not exactly a light subject, and i spent many hours over many nights pouring over all the information that's available. Part of my concern was getting something that would work decently first of all, be somewhat reliable, with some kind of support available as well.

In the end i ended up buying the solidoodle 3. It's not the cheapest one out there at $800 assembled + shipping etc, but they have an actual forum where people post their problems and get help, and for my first 3d printer i really didn't want to have to try and build it myself.

Here's some pics, first right out of the box, and then after i put a DIY enclosure on it using foam board, some clear PET i had laying around, and of course, lots of tape!

Prints beautifully, already cranked out a lot of parts on it for a local friend, though i haven't done any of my own designs yet.

I did have an old copy of autocad laying around, so i bucked up the pennies and paid for access to an online video course, spent a week and a half going through the lessons, and now i'm pretty sure i can fumble together some rudimentary designs.

Onward and upward!

Well, picked it up a couple days ago, was planning on going flying today but it's snowing... and couldn't sleep from the damn cold, so got to the shop at 5 this morning and started on the F550...

Got it all soldered up now, popping in the components now, should have her flying and trimmed out at some point today, looking forward to this multi rotor, bit of an upgrade from my MQX =)

Will post more pics later + video

Woot! new gopro silver got mounted today, check it out...

First vid: buzzing around the field at low altitude on 720p 60fps. Keep in mind youtube will only show 30fps.

Bixler FPV flight with new gopro3 silver (3 min 5 sec)

sorry there is some audio clipping in here, my first time using final cut pro x.

If you want to truly see what 60fps looks like (since you don't have a gopro) you can use this following link to download the original 60fps file (link will be good for 1 month):

Here's the second video (today as well), i upped the settings on the gopro to max and went for altitude... was awesome! blows my old wing camera away. If you catch this link early youtube may have not finished processing the 1080p version.
