I got this reccomended setup from another RCG member. It's great for this little plane.
The maiden flight was interesting. This plane was made to be on the slow side, but I found that flying it on the edge of stall to be uncomfortable for my tastes. A small gust of wind would send it nose up and into a stall. But this thing is so light weight, recovery is easy. The CG is just right for the type of flying I'm used to which is slightly nose down.
With a throttle management, I was able to stay up for 20 minutes without any noticeable loss in power. Landing gear is only useful for take off on pavement. Grass landings with a bit of headwind and a stall right before touchdown and you can set it down respectfully, but any rolling landings with this guy on grass just seem impossible without a nose over.
I'd reccomend the prop saver on this plane if you will be using the supplied landing gear.
If you're thinking about building this plane, I can give you a few pointers.
Before I go into it, consider that GP built this plane to carry a NiMh Pack, A brushed motor and a gear box at the time it was deisgned....
You will definitley have trouble with the tail feathers. Namely covering. Either re-engineer the tail, or use a light weight low shrink covering material, otherwise, you will have to deal with warpage. Some people have used solid sheet
