Got this VW Bug body last week. i didnt know the size of it, and it was to small for one of my cars, so today i made a custom CNC'd a carbon fiber chassis to fit it. i just measured the wheel wells and the rest of the frame, perfect fit! the rear tires are my fav, the Bug's rear fender wells hug the back wheels perfectly! will be no rubbing. very excited about painting this body. going to be a simple white with some simple flor orange graphics.

ok so after getting my second NAZA kit built ( red frame version with 920kv motors)

(these 920kv motor are able to accept 3s and 4s batteries also supplied are 8" props for 4s batt usage! )

with same batteries ( nano tech 2.2 pack) i did not notice any gain or loss in flight time compare to my other kit with the bigger 905kv motors. even though the 920kv on new build are lighter/smaller

i did not notice any loss or gain in the thrust on sticks as well, basically felt the same

i did notice something other may want to check, on the motors the copper winding's on the motor poles are very close to the can ( on top)when spinning almost looks like some glue was rubbed off from the winding's from the cap.

also when taking off the prop nuts i noticed some flakes of aluminum fall off the threads into the motors. i blew them out but if i wasn't watching i wouldn't have noticed so that could have lead to motors grounding out.

all in all the red frame version is growing on me

i have still yet to try the NAZA electronics on a light MK style frame to compare flight characteristics hopefully sooner then later.

still adjusting to get rid of most of the teeter totter effect in ATTI mode seems it likes to rock no matter what settings,

current gains screen shot is included when i was testings...

all in all still wins my award for best beginner quad! stable stable stable and height hold is ROCK SOLID!

EDIT: also the motors/esc barely get warm either way with no payload.

ATTI: mode the throttle is VERY SLUGGISH it takes well over half stick to hover and you can jam it full stick and it climbs VERY SLOW ( however good control and good height hold )
MANUAL MODE: climbs out double the speed for sure and hovers less then half, more work to keep it level ( i mean its manual mode you expect that, just needs faster stick output to quad i think )
it kinda over corrects it self to easy, can we adjust the stick output more in manual mode??

seemed likes i needed to trim alot either way, meaning i would trim it like 5 click it would level out hover for couple sec then would need to trim it back. not sure why back and forth etc..

overall the "kit version" flies very well and the frame magically does not vibrate or shake as much as my last frame before when i ran hacker clones, im guessing its a motor/prop thing. its my only way to think of it.

with decent gain settings i was able to not get any shaking in the quad at all. ( this all indoors currently ) outside was a...Continue Reading

Last blog before my surgery guys, i am undergoing neck surgery tomorrow morning 12-15-11 from an accident i had at work, one of our trucks lifts gate fell on top of my head crushing my neck, (they didn't know how i wasn't paralyzed but thankful either way ) surgery will include, replacing 2 discs in my neck, spine fusion and bone spur removal. the last 4 months i have been dealing with my spinal cord being compressed by 2 of my vertebrae c-5 to c-6 will be replaced and c-6 to c-7 disc but c-5 through c-7 will be fused together with some screws and plates. doctor saying i will lose 70% of the movement in that area of my neck but with good therapy i will do well. so will be down for like 6 weeks, no driving no flying. blah hopefully i have it in me to visit the forum and cause trouble as usual but time will tell.

if some of you watch football, Peyton Manning is going through the same thing not sure how many discs are effected with him but same process etc.

-

the good thing when i had my accident the doctors didn't understand how i wasn't paralyzed, i wore a neck brace for some time then after therapy was able to not wear it, but because of the 2 discs c-5 through c-7 being totally blown out the only option is to replace with synthetic discs and fuse it up. so hopefully all will go well. so i can come back and be the same old me.

Surgery went well!

just in some pain and on meds but things are better.

UPDATE...............................
-
here are my current xrays i took today 12-22-2011 showing the plate and screws and the disc replacement done. i will have to undergo more surgery later for the other 2 vertebrae as we decided to hold off on it.

DJI Quadcopter Frame F450 "Flame Wheel"

250grams 450 size quad, simon says its good for 50-ish gram motors which hacker clones would be perfect

http://www.heliguy.com/Extras/Multic...dcopter-Frame/
also ( free with a dji flight contol system purchase)

few of us got lucky and got them for $45 bucks but the price went up due to some wholesale costs ( per Alex). but the things looks to be the best bang for buck for bashing around. not for AP etc..

the uniqueness about it is, the lower plate is the flight control mounting deck with a built in power distributor board and the top plate will hold your battery down with straps or Velcro if you like. but because i would rather put a top deck protecting the battery i am giving 4 of those top plates for free to the 4 of us who got i tfirst. ( just have to purchase your own standoffs and screws ) for couple bucks .

I REALLY LIKE THIS FRAME! mainly for simplicity and strength sake!

Check out the vid

Ok so after discovering i got Black/White it inspired me to customize the props and motors to match. so this will be my DJI Fram tribute.

since i also have vinyl cutters with my cnc routers at home i was able to draw up and cut some custom computer decals for my motors and props.

hope you guys like it, do you think i should make all motors black with white lettering or leave them to match the white arms? i like it but can go either way!....Continue Reading
