As some of you may know, for the past few years I have sold many servo extensions in the Classifieds right here on RCG. I just wanted to post this blog to let you know what you can expect when you buy servo extensions from me.

Each individual servo extension that I sell is hand-made right here in my home in New Jersey. They are all made from heavy duty quality 22AWG wire, so you can use my extensions with micro servos all the way up to the big 1/4 scale servos. They also have gold plated pins and have universal connectors installed on them. This means that they can work with any brand (JR, Futaba, Hitec, etc.). Each extension is carefully made with quality equipment and checked for any defects before being sent to the buyer. I have sold close to 1,000 of my hand-made servo extensions and my buyers have never reported a problem with them. And if there was a problem, I would send a replacement out right away free of charge. You won't get this kind of service anywhere else... I guarantee it.

Also, I include Servo Extension Safety Clips with my extensions---one for each. So if I have a lot of 20 servo extensions up for sale, I include 20 safety clips. And I include them for absolutely FREE. You can see more details about these in the pictures below.

Other Parts and modifications

I'm going to substitute the stock SS wing for the Miss 2 wing. Joe Bennett came up with the idea for his SSV2. I was going to build the SSV2, but the old style aluminum Slow Stick booms are hard to find, and expensive if you do find them.

Landing gear: LG/camera mount

I will be reinforcing the tail with Carbon Fiber tape.

I will also be using various parts from Radical RC, such as the pusher motor mount (which I will probably use as a tractor mount), battery tray mount, steerable tail wheel mounting kit, and other parts.

I will be ordering most of these parts this week. Stay tuned for lots of updates and build pics. And once I get this all built, I have a digital camera that takes HD video that I am going to put on this plane. I will also be taking still pictures with my other digital camera.

After flying my Super Cub completely stock for 6 months, I have finally decided to upgrade it. So about a week ago, I began ordering some ''super charged guts'' for it. The motor that I decided to go with was the Walkera 380M Brushless Inrunner. It had the same dimensions as the stock motor, so that meant that I could just bolt it onto the stock Super Cub gearbox without messing with the firewall and making a new custom motor mount. I received the motor a couple days ago, and it was indeed a very easy swap with the stock brushed 480 motor (for more info on the motor installation, please see this post). But don't be fooled... this Walkera brushless inrunner has 5+ times the amount of power than the stock 480 brushed! The setup I am planning on doing will give my Super Cub around 300 watts of power at 25 amps. That setup includes the following:

Motor - The Walkera 380M Brushless Inrunner

ESC - Castle Creations Thunderbird 36

Servos - TowerPro SG-90's

Radio - Spektrum DX7

Receiver - Spektrum AR6100

Battery - Impulse 3s 2100mAh 16C LiPo

Propeller - GWS 10x6 DD


I am also planning on adding ailerons and giving my upgraded Super Cub a nice covering scheme... but that's for later on in this thread.

It's getting cold outside, and my ''flying season'' is almost over. But that's okay, because my ''building season'' is about to begin. So, i've been making a ''project list'' with all of the plane i'm going to try to build this winter. Here is is so far:

1) Adding micro air retracts to a GWS A-10 and fully glassing it. Also, i'm going to install two brushless inrunners into it, two CC Thunderbird 18 ESC's, a LiPo battery, ect.

2) Build a MM Cessna 180. This will be my first balsa wood kit.

3) Build and convert a Herr Aqua-Star Seaplane to electric.

4) Build a Macchi M-5. Can't you tell I like these old sea planes.

5) Scratchbuild a foam plane. Or if I learn enough skills building balsa planes, I will scratchbuild a balsa plane.

Okay, that's all the ''projects'' I plan on doing this winter.

Okay, this is just my opinion... i'm not trying to start any fights.

I just think R/C Helicopters look fake when they fly. I mean, can you really do loops and crazy manuvers with a real Helicopter? When R/C Airplanes do loops and aerobatics, it looks real, and you can do those stunts with a real airplane (stunt planes). But when a R/C Helicopter does loops and aerobatics, it looks so fake. I know you have to have a lot of skills to be able fly a R/C Helicopter, but every aerobatic move that a R/C Helicopter does looks plain stupid.

This is just my opinion and you can agree or disagree with it.

Whoo hoo! TODAY, I've been a member of RCGroups for a whole 365 days! So, i'm going to write a little ''thank you letter'' to all of the very nice members of RCG that helped me out through my first year as a member.

The day was August 20, 2006. I was really getting into this hobby and I decided to join an R/C Airplane Forum. I searched around the internet for a good, active forum, and every forum I found wasn't good. And then, I found good ole' RCGroups! I clicked on the link and it brought me to a nice and friendly forum. I clicked on the ''register'' button and I took a good 15 minutes trying to think of a good user name. I came up with ''Megatech Man''. Which was the most ''lame'' name I could ever think of.

Once my account was active, I posted my first thread... the title was, ''Im new to flying and need help with something''. In this thread, I asked ''newbie'' questions about my first plane, the Megatech Airstrike (hence the name Megatech Man). Well, about a day later I found out that the Megatech Airstrike was one of the worst beginner planes you can get. Everybody was trying to talk me out of maidening it and everybody was telling me to buy a Slow Stick. Which I REALLY hated. So, guess what I did... I maidened my Airstrike anyway, on September 3, 2006.

Of course, I crashed it with in 5 seconds. But the damage was only a broken propeller and a couple scuffs on the nose....Continue Reading

Can you tell that I'm bored?

Ever since the DX7 came out, it seems like Spektrum just forgot about the DX6!

There making all of these new receivers for the DX7 only! It's getting me mad! Now, there coming out with an AR6300 receiver. It's the size of a stamp and it's for parflyers only, but do you think it's for the DX6, NO, it's for the DX7!
