I finally remembered the name and then found some pics online of the first RC aircraft I ever flew. Single channel - rudder only! I never got it to fly with the .020 engine, so I installed an .049 engine and it flew GREAT, for about 2 minutes - then the rubber bands holding the main wing broke and the fuselage drilled itself full power into the softball field from 50ft up at Morton West High school in Berwyn, IL. back in 1980-82 (ish). The wing, however, gently tumbled to the ground, unscathed. 28 years passed before I attempted to fly an RC aircraft again which turned out to be a helicopter, a Blade mCX in winter 2008. Things turned out much better the second time around
I was able to salvage the receiver/servo assembly and installed it into my Cox Action Van - which ran off of an .049 engine with pre-defined cam shapes & worm gear to determine it's path. Having RC control of the steering was WAY better Which then led me to the Tamiya Ford Ranger and Rough Rider off-road RC buggies ...
Not my vid, but, yep, that's the one. I remember the callouses and blisters from attempting to start that thing dozens of times
