I volunteered to build a new version of Millennium RC's redesigned slow stick X kit for a friend. I was curious as to how this compared to the original one I built. (which Just happened to be my first build)

Just some new pics of the glider I picked up at the Perry Show.

Well, it had to happen. I have been buying and selling on RCg for almost 3 years now, and have been very lucky in that nothing I bought has been damaged. Well, I bought a 3dhs Aspera here on the forums, and it finally arrived today. I must say that it took longer than USPS or UPS, I also had to wait an extra day due to "local weather conditions" ( That is another thing, I NEVER get teh package when it is supposed to be delivered. It is always "customer unavailable" or some crap like that )
So, the box shows up today, and I just happened to catch the driver before he dropped it off and left. When I stopped him and told him I wasnt pleased with the very apparent damage to the package and asked if there was something I could sign stating that the item was damaged, he told me that I should just contact the office and just tell them that the package was left that way.
This kind of stuff really angers me, and is exactly the reason I avoid Fedex at every chance.

I took the plane out of the box and it is a miracle that it is unscathed. I have gone over it and haven't found any damage. I cannot understand how that happened, but I consider myself lucky.
Anyway, I just had to rant a little... now I feel better

Well, here I sit in the Hotel room in Atlanta....Just got settled in after attending the Sean Hannity freedom concert. All I can say is....WOW!!
I have not seen such an outporing of support for our troops and their families in.....well, since ever.... I am truly astounded at the turnout and the fabulous acts that played. To top it off, Eddie Mongomery of Montgomery Gentry fell off the stage.... I'm sure everyone thought he had hurt himself, but he appeared to handle it like a champ. I know it hurt, but he just jumped back on the stage and continued on....
My wife and I are already making plans to come back next year.

If you haven't been to a freedom concert, you should make plans to attend one, even if you don't agree with the politics, it is all about the troops and their families.
Larry the cable guy was a riot, and he even brought out Ron White at the end of his performance.

I really can't put into words the feelings, I went from laughter to tears to cheering...It is just so great to attend and be a part of something of that magnitude...It was worth every penny..

All right! Time for another build of the next crash victim

I picked up a fashion 50 ARF (I don't know the manufacturer, but you can get it at Atlanta Hobby here ) at the Perry show a couple of months ago, and after much deliberation (about 5 minutes) I have decided to forgo the standard slimer configuration for the much cleaner electric power.
After getting most of the necessary stuff together, I have started building the plane.
First off, here are a few specs on the plane All from the manufacturer:
Wingspan = 54.7 In.
Length = 54.7 in.
Wing Area = 558 Sq in
approx AUW = 5.9 Lbs

I am going to go with an AXI 4120/14 motor, CC60 ESC, and 2 3s 3700 flightpower EVO wired in series for a 6s configuration. I'm not sure as to the prop size yet.
Finishing it out, I am using 4 Spektrum DS821 servos and a JR r790 RX.

Starting off, I looked over the wing, and the covering job was flawless, I could only find a small seam on the wing that needed to be tacked down, and there were no wrinkles in the covering. The 1st step is to glue the aileron hinges in. The ailerons come with the slots pre cut, so all you have to do is CA them in. They are CA hinges, but I can never get the hinges to go all the way in before the glue sets on the hinges I ended up using 5 min epoxy to hold the hinges in. So far that is only a minor issue.

I picked up a wing kit for the Slow stick at the Perry show this March. It is available from millennium R/C. There is also a thread about it here

This will be my first attempt at building anything but an ARF plane, so we should be able to see how easy the instructions and build is for a novice.


I should say that although I've never seen one of these fly, the plane with the wing mod looks great and I'm excited to try one out.


To start off, the pieces were packaged together well, and even after 2 months of being shuffled around in my house from place to place with my RC stuff, all the pieces were still intact. I started off by looking over the complete instructions, and I must say they seem to be well thought out and are mostly clear to understand. I removed the first pieces from their sheets and they popped out with minimal effort. The laser cutting did a great job. I sanded the little "boogers" left from being attached to the sheet.

The 1st problem I ran into with the instructions, was there were 3 different types of wing ribs, and the instructions didn't tell you exactly where they went. This may be a newbie builder problem, but it has caused some head scratching nonetheless. However, the ribs were easily inserted into the spar and I only had to sand one piece in order to make it fit.

I only got as far as laying out both wing halves tonight with the spar and LE.
I haven't glued anything yet, but I hope to do that tomorrow.

Why oh why do I have to go to work? I hate stopping.....

I've volunteered to build a World Models Voodoo Mustang for a friend, and thought I'd make an attempt at a build log, so here goes:


To start off, the parts were packed very well and were labeled in individual bags. I looked over the manual a couple of times before starting, and I can say that I didn't like the lack of written instructions. There are some pretty clear pictures, but I had a hard time understanding what the task at hand was in certain steps. In fact, the lack of instructions has already caused me to screw up once on this build
I started off by laying out the parts on a table and looking over for problems. All is good there. The first step is to glue the aileron hinges in and the ailerons on to the wing. So far so good... The next step is to install the control hornsin the ailerons. They pre-drilled holes for the horns, but the holes don't go all the way through the aileron, so, out comes the 'ol trusty Craftsman drill. After that was accomplished, the control horns went together with no problem. Step 3 was to install the aileron servos and linkages, but I don't have the servos yet (They are still at my friend's house), so I skipped that step for now. I will say that the manufacturer provided a string already in the wing to pull the wires through, but one side on this particular wing had come loose and was nowhere to be found. I just tied a couple of spacers to a string and dropped it throught the wing, then fished it out the hole. No problem there.

I volunteered to paint my brother's E-starter this week and have just started it. I know it won't be the most professional job in the world given that it is being done with a $20 wal-mart airbrush, but......so what....
He asked that I take pictures of the process. I wish I could have taken some of the plane before I filled in all the boo boos and hangar rash with light spackle. Here are some of the plane before and shortly after the first coat. the 1st coat on the fuse is whiteas that is how he wants the windows. You can't tell in pics that it is even painted.

I hate gravity......I lost a 3s 2200 lipo last Saturday due to this stupid thing called gravity. It came out of my GWS Zero and fell about 150 feet...Now my plane and my battery are trashed...At least I can fix the plane

My wife blames it all on Kenny. It is still his fault..........
