Issues with a Carbon Cub, an amazing save of the plane 2 times after a servo failure. The description on the vid shows the events that transpired. Here is the photos of the plane and its pilots before the flight and the damage that occured when the flight went south.

Man what a day, I cant say enough how much I enjoy hosting this event. This is the fourth year I have been CD for the event and the second at the new location in Lake Country BC. Last year for the local food bank we brougt in a total of $471 to the local food bank, this year on day one alone we have over $300 dollars towards the food bank so we will be crushing last years totals very nicely. last year MAAC put in $200 towards our event, I cant say yet how much we have been told for this year, but its a nice total as well.

This year we added a nice touch to the event and we will be continuing this in the future if we can. In the past its been hard to please the pilots other halves, this year thanks to Okanagan Limousines and Intrigue Wines we were able to keep them suddated long enough to fly more. The top 7 food bank donators got to go on a wine tour in the afternoon, most of these ladies leaving thier husbands and kids alone for a couple of hours. I am happy to report no kids or husband were hurt during this time period....Continue Reading

For me the weekend was exactly what i needed, been unable to afford to do anything for over a year and finally scraped together just enough to take the wife and kids to our favorite event. the hospitality at the event is first rate and the venue is one of a kind as well.

I CANT THANK THE SLAM MEMBERS ENOUGH FOR SUCH A GREAT EVENT, SO I GUESS I WILL JUST HAVE TO GO AGAIN.....................Continue Reading

Wow what a day this was and it isnt over for some. so far today we set up a 12 year old and put him in the spot light and gave him his Heli Wings in front of everyone. The club knocked one off someones "bucket list" by sending Glen up in a full size heli that was being run by Valhalla Helicopters. and the day really isnt done yet there may be more night flying tonight. here are some of the highlights of today in photos. the vids will come later.

oh ya and did i mention i gave my son his bday present today...... a heli ride with me....Continue Reading

June 9th was to be the date for this great event this year..............but due to a full weeks worth of heavy rain fall and the worst day of the weekk being the saturday, the event was postponed to today. Well to say the least, the heavens parted and gave us one of the greatest presents ever.

Today started at 8:00am for me when I arrived at the event to see that there was calm winds and blue sky, and a huge line up of kids ready to get thier flights in. For those not familiar with this event it is the Canadian Owners Pilots Associations (COPA) way of connecting with youth from the ages of 8-18. This great group of volenteers both pilots and non-pilots spent the whole day running ground schools for the kids in a classroom setting then they would give them a walk around ground school on a full size plane, and top it off with a 20-25 min flight over our beautiful city of Kelowna and area. The local Lions club had planned on running the concession on the saturday but were unable to attend on the sunday, so the organisers decided to run thier bbq and do hot dogs at the very least. As i said earlier there was a huge line of kids, on saturday there were 150 pre registered, this being a rain day I dont think anyone expected to get the turn out that there was, of the 150 pre registered kids 132 showed up, all with several family members. The day earlier the club had purchased 150 hotdogs and buns from the lions club members and by 11:00am we were making an emergency run to...Continue Reading

$471 raised for the Lake country food bank on both days.

club raized $271 and Model Aeoronautic Association of Canada(MAAC) equaled our numbers to a max of $200, thanks Steve.

Thanks to everyone that helped out and donated prizes, and to those who donated threw us for the food bank. AGT automotive donated a $100 dollar gc that was won by John Klassen, Lester's Hobbies in Vernon donated a $100 gc that was won by Dawn Dawdy, Dawn Dawdy dontated a pair of hand made seat cushins that were won by one of our new club members.

The weather today was killer nice(i am sun stoked now) and with very light winds all day everyone was having alot of great flights. Hermco Catering was amazing to have there running the concession with nothing but wows from everyone that ate his food.

i think i will let the pics say the rest...................Continue Reading

Day one of the Kelowna Ogopogo Radio Controllers event was a smashing success for the first one to be held. We ran a 5 dollar entry fee for pilots and took in all cash and nonperishable food donations we could, totals to released later. Everyone that donated to the cause received a raffle ticked as well, we had two prizes donated before hand and had one added during the event, the first was a $100 dollar gc to Lester's Hobbies in Vernon and the second was a full automotive service from AGT automotive with a max value of $100, thanks to my boss for that donation(he also threw in the first cash donation too). Third prize is a pair of seat cushins hand made by Dawn Dawdy. All three prizes will be raffled off tomorrow.

The day started off slow but really picked up and became a great day, power 104/Q 103 came out and promoted the event and what we had there, she also brought out some great Sun Rype products for us. I took the time to get Casey out on the flight line and shes a natural on the controlls, she was looping and rolling my little Kadet in a matter of mins. The winds were light for the whole day only picking up when the small rain clouds circled the ridges of the hills nearby.

btw my 7 year old daughter gets to take the credit for the great...Continue Reading

man what a nice day at the field, i was the first one there and the last one to leave. Sun all day long, with a bit of a north wind right down the runway. I got in about 8 flights myself and cant really say that there was a slow moment all day long, i was there from 10-4 pm. I have a little Kadet EP-42 that i offer out to any and all spectator to fly and got three to try it today alone, i love getting people hooked when they realize there is no risk of harm on the trainer box. My CL 415 from hobbyking is a riot to fly scale and 3d(yes i said 3d). The 415 due to being overpowered at full throttle will do the best knife edge spin and flat spin tumble out of any plane i own, the planes geometry doesnt lead to anygood at other agressive 3d stuff but it does great imac manouvers.

Geno test flew his AW 100cc Yak today and wow it is dead sexy.
