If you are into speed planes that are relatively easy to fly, then this is a plane I can highly recommend, the HobbyKing Durafly EFxtra Racer.

Even with a 3s 2200mah lipo battery, you can get top speeds around 100mph. You will see that there is not a lot of room for the battery, but it works.

It's an easy hand launch, easy lander, very predictable flyer, not that affected by wind. Just make sure you use their recommended throws for the control surfaces, and expo is definitely your friend.

You MUST use EXPO on this plane, which were not in my instructions. I recommend starting with 35-40% expo and work down for the sensitivity you like.

I have my flight time set for 3.5 minutes and I show you the battery after the flight.

I think it's flying on an APC 8x6 prop.

I just got in about 10 flights so far on the 3DHS/Extreme Flight 52in Edge, and my initial impressions are that I like it alot. It does fantastic high energy maneuvers like pop tops, easy knife edge spins, and balls up into a wad great when you push the sticks to the corners. Stalled maneuvers are also good. Harriers are very stable, even in a little wind, with no wing waggle, and hovering is okay, but feels like a small plane when hovering. Lastly, for landing, you can use throttle control to land, but it needs to be slightly angled down and flown in a bit. Overall, a fun airframe!!

Components:

Xpwr T3910 (running on 4s 2650 & 3300mah power)
Airboss 80amp ESC
HiTec HS-5087MH high voltage, digital, metal gear servos
Zoar 15X7 prop

Here is a recently built and modified Mini Midget Mustang running on a 3s 2200mah lipo, doing 100mph I am flying again.

I forgot how fun and addictive these little guys are.

Here are some recent pictures attached of my latest plane, and I have also attached a line to a review on it from a while ago, plus a video on the plane the reviewer did.

I use to sell modified kits as PlaneAdrealinRC.

Everyone should take a close look at AJ Aircraft's 56in Lazer 230z, as my used one I just added to the fleet and maidened today flys as good as any Extreme Flight models I have flown (including a new Edge), maybe better!

A friend of mine is moving across the country, and sold me this plane, and what a plane!!

Here is what is has:

Motrofly 3615 - 750kv

80amp ESC

Hitec 5085MG digital servos

14x7 prop

4s Glacier 2600mah & 4s HK Nano 3000mah batteries (AJ Aircraft recommends 4s 3300mah)

The maiden today was only 3 clicks (up) on the elevator and was completely trimmed. I hit neutral CG first flight, and by the end of the 3rd flight all my mixing was done.

I only few it 9 times today, but the last flights felt like I had 100+ flights on it. The airframe is that good and predictable.

The only negatives are: (a.) the batteries go way up in the nose for neutral CG, so the prior owner made a battery tray for them, and (b.) the lighter 4s Glacier 2600mah batteries feel great in the airframe (no wind today), but provide limited air time (4 mins mixed flying).

This could easily become my favorite of all time (in this size), and a go to plane!

This is why I think more people need to take a closer look at AJ Aircraft: https://www.aj-aircraft.com/56-Laser-230z.html

I purchased locally as a new/used Addiction X V2, with very few flights on it, that came with the PA Pro Package (PA motor, ESC, Servos, Extensions, Wing Bag, etc.) , and yesterday got it out for its maiden flight, dialing in proper CG, trim work, and mixing..... about 18-20 flights in all.

We have several people at my local club who fly the Addiction XL, which I flew last summer, and watched them fly. The XL is 59" wing spand, and my X (V2) is 50," running on a 3s 2200 lipo battery.

INITIAL IMPRESSIONS: Looks great, very light, lots of carbon fiber. The magnetic canopy is kinda tricky properly putting on, and the placement of the wing nuts and very thin airframe makes it very difficult to remove and install the wings for transport. The wheel pants (and landing gear) seems somewhat fragile, so good takeoffs, and "grease" landings are essential for the wheel pants to last.... but the plane does glide well with no power, and with a couple of "blips" of the throttle while landing, makes this one of the easiest planes to land that I have in my 3D fleet (Extreme Flight Extra, 3DHS Extra, 3DHS Slick, landing with ease like my 3DHS Vyper).

The factory CG point gives you the impression that the plane is tail heavy, so you end up flying nose heavy, and you will think you need to add weight.... don't, just push the battery all the way forward (towards the motor) and slowly work back from there, testing the planes CG in the air. This plane...Continue Reading

Kiber model out of Moldova literally hand makes fiberglass combat planes, and I purchased one after watching the Petroncic Brothers on YouTube review it.

It has 1140mm / 44in wingspan, and put in a E-Flite Power 32, 80amp Turnigy ESC, APC 9x9e prop, HiTec HS 81 servo for the elevator, and Turnigy mico servos in the wings.

I am using a 4s 3300mah battery, and getting about 5-5:30 min flight time at mostly full throttle, with a top speed of 85-90 mph.

You can run a 10x6 prop, which makes it easier to hand launch, but you loose some top speed.

I needed to modify (enlarge) the motor mount area, and shim the motor (down and to the right), and add some balsa to attach the ESC, but it is a really great flyer!...Continue Reading

Got 4 flights in on my new/used Carbon Z T-28 I picked up over the winter.

It's bone stock right now with only an upgrade to the servo linkage, using Great Planes' steel clevis 2-56.

I flew it both on 6s 5000mah and 4000mah, with no difference in flight characteristics, other than less time on the 4000mah.

Set up with the settings the manual provided, slightly higher on high rates, and flew it on high rates almost 100% of the time.

I plan on trying out a 3 blade prop, which I have purchased, plus doing a mod on the landing gear (weak point of plane) with a JP landing gear controller, and changing out the pilot.

I fly on a grass runway at my field, so we will see how well the plastic landing gear holds up.

It's a gentle giant in the air, and really enjoyable to fly!

I got another new bird in the hanger from a RC friend, Eric... It's the 3DHS 57" 330 Extra.

The set up is a Hacker A40-12s, running a Hacker X70 SB-Pro ESC, and HiTec HS 225MGs all around.

It's propeller is a Xoar 15x7, running on 4s 4000mah lipos. (I will try 3300mah lipos in the future)

This use to be my favorite airframe way back. In fact, this is my 4th one, and is floatier than I remembered.

A fellow RC Group 3DHS thread person (great guy) is sending me SFGs for it.

I have a new bird in the hanger for 2021: 3DHS 65" Vyper, which is not a new airframe, but new to me.

Beautiful day here in Seattle, so this afternoon I put my first 3 maiden flights on it, just working on trim, CG, and some mixing.

I did do a couple of pop-tops with it on the 3rd flight, and its cool to see that long fuse come around 1 1/2 times!

Powered with a Hacker A50-16s motor (they always seem weaker than Motrofly to me), Hacker X 110 Opto Pro ESC and Castle BEC Pro 20amp 12s, 18x8 Xoar Prop, with HS 985Mg Hi-Tec Servos.

I may experiment with a slightly larger prop.

I flew it with both 6s 5000mah (2) and 6s 4000mah (1), and I may like the lighter set up... we will see.

If I fly aggressively, it looks to provide 6-7 minute flight times with plenty left in the lipos, although I have not tried it yet. The 5000's had 65% on them after 6 minutes of calm flying doing set up stuff.

Looking forward to more flights with it in the coming year.

After being 3 years out of the hobby, I am back!

Just ran 4 batteries (2-6s 4000mah & 2-6s 3300mah) in my new (and favorite) airframe - the Extreme Flight 61in Extra!

It is equipped with a Motrofly 4315 motor, Gecko 80a ESC (with BEC), and HiTec's HS-7245's all around, white Zoar prop and the new spinners that bring air into the power for extra cooling effect.

3 clicks up elevator and was only 1/2 inch off of neutral CG.

By the second battery, I was already bringing her in close for stalled manuevers.

It almost comes in for hands off regular landings on low rates.

Initially set up my expo a bit high on high rates, but dialed back the rudder and ailerons for a bit for sensitivity.

The plane couples into the landing gear slightly when in a knife edge, but I will mix that out next time.

What a great airframe!!

I only have under 20 flights on it, so I am not ready to comment on how its flight characteristics, since I have only just dialed in everything, but here is my setup:

Its a gas version airframe, using the following components:

E-Flite Power 160 (10s)
FighterCat 240amp ESC (overkill, an expensive ESC used for large EDF's or in boats)
Castle BEC Pro
Xoar 20x10 and 21x10 Electric Props
5 - HiTec 7955TG Digital Servos
3D length SeaCraft Servo Arms
Upgraded carbon fiber landing gear from Graph Tech

This set up flys great and all components come down warm to the touch in hot weather.

It seems like the SFG's completely remove wing rock in stalled maneuvers, but in other type of flight, I have not seen a difference at this point.

I am going back and forth on my prop size (Xoar PJN 20x10 and 21x10) and have not settled in yet on my choice.

On the 20x10 my5s 4000mah 40c Zippy's provide easy 6.5 min flight times, and I also have 2 - 5s 5000mah 30c Zippy's that can provide over 7 minutes.

It does not seem to be weight sensitive.

Update: November 2013 after 40-50 flights. I am using the 21x10 Xoar and prefer not using the SFG's. The key to good stalled flight characteristics seems to be a deeper angle of attack than my smaller airframes. I also like the larger mah batteries for flight times. Just beginning to really enjoy it, and now winter is here....

Here are some recent pics...

3DHS 59in Slick (my best 3Der - harrier-hover monster with wild tumbles ... this airframe can fly some pretty good straight lines for a Slick as well)

Flight Model 57in Extra (very similar to the 3DHS version with some minor structual differences - purchased it when 3DHS was out of stock for an extended period of time)

Extreme Flight 48in Extra with lights. Fly's beautiful lines and great snaps! Not a 3D monster, but does it well. I think it helps you combine your 3D with better lines.

I would like to consider an Extreme Flight 78in MXS in the new R/W/B scheme in the future, and/or a 3DHS 48in Edge (owned 2 previously - great small floaty airframe), or an Extreme Flight 78in Extra sometime in the future.

At the end of the summer last year, feeling in the groove (and with the wife watching), I got alittle stupid with my 60" Extreme Flight Extra, and really wacked it.

I walked away from that experience and did not fly the rest of a great indian summer last year.

This winter, I got looking at it, and after watching an instructional video on how to replace the motor box, I went for it.

I repaired the fuse and one SFG, replaced the motor box, replaced a damaged wing, canopy, cowl and prop.

The remaiden was this weekend.... WOW, one click on the radio and it was like nothing happened!

This is my all-time favorite airframe to fly!

Now that I have about 50 some flights on my Extreme Flight 60in Extra, I must say its my favorite airframe out of all the past airframes I have owned. It combines speed, agility, wildness, flys nice lines and has great stall stability wrapped up all in one airframe.

To top this off, the shipping, build quality, airframe design and customer service has been the best that I have personally experienced from a airframe company.

My current set up is:

Motrofly 4315 - 714kv Motor
Castle Creation 100amp Ice Lite
Castle Creation 10amp BEC
Xoar 15x7 Prop (prefer it over the 15x8)
Hitec Digital 5245MG Servos
4s 4000mah 40C Zippy lipos (although my Gen Ace 25C seem to perform just as well)

I have no video, but here are some pics of my beloved plane attached.

Special thanks to Extreme Flight.... this is one satisfied customer that has "gone Extreme!"

I feel really blessed to have such a great airfield to fly at and such great friends and pilots - one of those pilots is Kody (Kody'd'Punk) where I got a chance to do some camera-video work of his flying. The video camera is owned by Flopgun, and he did put the video together. Enjoy....
