Our club, Woodland Davis Aeromodelers, is hosting 2 big events starting this weekend and our pride dictates we spread the word!

October 4-6, 2013 we host the Helicopter Scale Masters Fun Fly with proceeds going to Autism Speaks. Lots of clips of our last events on YouTube if you want to see what it's about.

Then October 10-13, 2013 we host The 34th Annual U.S. Scale Masters National finals. If you're close at all you won't want to miss this one! You'll see planes that will make you go home and dust off the building board. Beautiful scale "duplicates", not just models.

As always I'll be working the snack shack for these events. Always a favorite place to hang out and not just because of my sparkling personality! The foods pretty good. Come out, we would love to see you there.

Just gripes me!
I got "The Wings Maker" JF-17 EDF jet kit. Pretty nice kit. Fair Chinese looking instructions, good hardware bagged for every step of the build, just a nice kit. Got to the end of the build and no decal sheet. Tear everything apart looking for something I don't ever remember seeing in the first place. Nothing.
Went to their online store and viola, they have a good parts list including the decal sheet. Only $8.00 I'll just pay it rather than write and waste time trying to get it replaced. I'm pretty forgiving, things happen, right? Fill out all the order info, get to the last page and added to the total is $7.99 shipping.
OK, now we've gone to far. $7.99 for an $8 part I shouldn't have to pay for anyway. And Southern Calif to Northern Calif. NO!
I email them and asked if due to the circumstances couldn't you put it in a $2.00 envelope instead?
The answer was "$7.99 is our standard handling charge as we have to do the same paperwork, pulling of part, packaging, etc. Perhaps you can find some more accessories to justify the charge."

I realize it's a $5.00 difference from what I was proposing but I've spent most of my life providing customer service and watching the competitors who don't disappear from sight. Just the way it should be.

I will be remembering this should I ever see "The Wings Maker" model that catches my eye.

My name is Craig. A 50 something year old kid who has found his second childhood with the childs first love, RC planes. Actually as a kid it was control line because only the elite could afford RC. In my 20's I finally made it to the elite status and got my first high wing trainer. Upon mastering it and now ready to move to a low winger my wife suggested I retire from the hobby. You married guys know about these suggestions!
Here I am now, she is not, and my new wife thinks this is just the greatest thing. At least she has for the past 5 years!
I hope to be an asset to the forums with some build logs as stick building is my greatest joy in the hobby, flying is second, and along the way help some folks out.
I am active in a local charity that has great hopes of having a youth center soon and I hope to be able to use RC as a tool in this venture.
So there's a brief intro, Thanks for your time and have a blessed day.
