PZ Sport Cub Test (4 min 35 sec)


Testing filming from a fixed position. PZ Sport Cub with a OS 15 motor 40 amp esc, 10x7 prop on 4s 2200 mah flying in 10-20 mph winds.. smashed it pretty good but it has already been fixed and flown today. Sorry about the ticking, flag was banging up against the tripod.

Stamax F5 Maiden at 114th RC Field Grapevine (2 min 59 sec)


Got this F5 from guaglione87 a couple of weeks ago. The motor was seized and lots of hanger rash, chunk out of wing and a dead nose gear servo.

I just happened to have a extra 3300kv motor on a 70mm spinning a 12 blade CS fan. After a little foam surgery EDF was in. used a 70A ESC and an extra HS%55 for the nose with MPI servo reverser. Battery was a Revo 2200mah 4S 60C

Replaced the wheels with some skinny larger for our thick grass.

Flight was a handful as it was pretty tail heavy. That will be corrected before next attempt. But enjoy.

Had a little slack time today, so decided to bind up some all my helis from when started this hobby to my DX9.

I think I have a problem.... this does not include the planes (14+).

The SR is in process of fixing, though I think that may be a waste of time.

Probably need to sell some eh? I have more $$ in upgrades than actual helis cost. Thin herd or keep em all?

Powered by Deltrum 3000kv motor rotating a 12 Blade CS Fan, 60 amp ESC and a Glaicer 3300 mah 4S battery.
RX is a Spektrum 4 channel, 2 servos = Hitech HS-55 Featherlight. Transmitter is a Spektrum DX9.

I had just finished another successful Stinger 4S flight - got to love that EDF. Old guys find it obnoxious as indicated by the chatter I can hear over my shoulder by the pit peanut gallery.

A newer club members approached me and asked for help with his brand spanking new HK version of the Stinger 64. "Sure, I will preflight your bird".

We went over it pretty good, findings included - way to much down nose in the elevator, but flyable. The throws were to much.

So based on my experience, I suggested some changes. His radio is an Orange Spektrum knock off radio mind you, which I have no experience with so far. We tweak the bird and off we go to flight line.

I tell him that I am going to under hand toss it and just keep the elevator back and it will be fine. "Smooth inputs are key"

He says "no -- I want you to fly it." While I found this flattering since I have only been flying since last May. I hesitated, but he insisted and I said "well, okay, but no promises, this is not my radio setup. and I would hate to crash your new plane"

He still insists. Reluctantly, I take his radio, throttle her up -- all seems well -- a good under hand toss and she is off. it was obvious - his D/R ranges on his radio are NOT the same as my DX9, but it was flyable, just a little twitchy. I proceed to do a lap of the field. I feel that I am having to put way too much up elevator, so I start tweaking it back on the trim.

Well I feel horrible now.

I was all ticked off on not hearing back from Brian at Empire Hobbies about replacements for concealed damage on a recent purchase (Ki-84 Hayate).

Got an email from JD that Brian was sick and would get back to me soon. Two days passed, so I reached out again.

Sadly the response was that Brian had passed away. there is a nice tribute on the homepage of Empire RC. - website/. Though I barely knew him, he was a nice and stand up guy

I encourage all who can to donate to his kids education account. And remember that people are more important than if you get your plane/parts. It put that back into perspective.

Well I finally finished the PZ T-28 Build with color scheme from the1950's Edwards AFB Test Pilot School paint job.

This was built from PZ air frame parts picked up at LHSs. Found the main wing in one store, fuse and tail feathers in another. and canopy in one more.

It is powered by a BL15 (from my pz p-47d), a 40 amp esc, swinging a 11x6 prop (subject to change). Running 3S 2250 and 2200 batteries

Servos are HS-55's for ailerons, HS-82MG for Elevator and Rudder all controlled by a Spektrum AR400 RX.

Flies great! And so... so easy to see with my old eyes.

Last weekend I had hoped to debut my hopped up Stinger 64 with wicked 4000 sporting a new hot pink and yellow hi viz paintj ob, at our club fly in. Sadly, I took my eyes off it for a millisecond or 10 on its first leg downfield and slammed it hard into ground. I never got to do the planned high speed pass. The EDF fan gernaded on impact and the fuse was in multiple pieces. The collective groan by members and spectators was tough to stomach, as it shook the ground - or at least felt like it.

I could have taken easy way out and just replaced the broken parts. But what is the fun in that? 5+ hours later, lots of hot water, foam tack, CA and fiberglass - the Stinger 64 is reborn. The fuse has been glassed with lightweight SIG glass and polycryllic, followed my a very light krylon paint misting . The bird is now powered with stock motor and fan until my next wicked 4000 plus shipment arrives. Can you see me now?

So, it all started 6 months ago, when I purchased a Blade MQX, (small quad copter) that turned in the need for a better transmitter (DX6i), then spawned the need for more copters. You know, the micro kind? first up a MSRX, followed by a Nano CPX, then a MCPX, need for Brush-less was cause for the MCPX BL purchase. Of course, the cost of upgrades far surpassed the original copters prices. a short lived bad SR buy off Craigslist (immediate crash, might as well burned a hundred dollar bill). Yes I did get a SIM, I became very proficient at desk flying. Undeterred, I picked up a Blade 300X, installed the frame stiffener and performed a bearing mode - it still sits in its box, never flown.

Why do you ask, two words, "fixed wing". I made the mistake of start flying the SIM versions of all the aircraft available. I joined a local club - 114th in Grapevine Texas, that is when I really spiraled out of control into the hobby. 2 months ago, I took one lesson and knew, half my seat time in real aircraft transferred over. No more lessons for me, bought a Glasair and flew it solo the next day. Now I have 11 planes and a couple on the way, A full charging systems and too many batteries. I am hooked.
