New project on the bench. Trying out some new build methods, and a new platform for this one.

The body is vac-formed over a Slave I toy I picked up at Toys-r-Us. The frame will be based off of the fabulous bi-copter made by Jason F....Continue Reading

As they said in Contact "Why build one when you can have two at twice the price"

Been working on this concept off and off after seeing somebody convert a Guanli Harrier frame into a quad. It's the same concept as other multirotor hybrids.

I got two of the airframes from hobbyking(http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...80mm_ARF_.html)
I'm using this one as a test bed to get the controller tuned, then I will build up the second airframe with a glassed wings, weapons stations to hide the motors, and retracts.

Running Arducopter for the quad half, then straight pass through of the airplane controls. Right now I just have rudder, elevator, and throttle control in plane mode, and it grooves pretty well with the quad near idle.

Looking like a plane now.

Cutting those wings were a major effort, put forth by a good friend. Should be ready to fly in a few more weeks.

100 inches of pink foam and a lot of sanding. Will end up as a twin pusher with vectored thrust.

Micro version of the Parkzone Habu I put together with some 4-site guts. Tried as both a pusher and with a 30mm fan, pusher is much more fun! Plans posted in the micro edf forum.

No flying today because of more rain, so I decided to try something to nicen up my new Extreme Flight Extra EXP

I took a 73x96mm craft egg (pack of two for $3.50). Cut off the smaller tip at an angle, and glued the two together after hollowing out some of the head with a dremel. To round off the lover edged of the head, I rolled them on the table to slightly crush the foam. A little paint, and I had a nice looking pilot figure for 48" ish aerobatic planes at a scant 8 grams Whole process took about an hour.
