Well, since Michael (crash-man) has honored me by mentioning my involvement in his great podcast at http://thecrashcast.com/ , I'd probably better introduce myself.
I grew up in a house that is about a mile away from AF Plant 42, in Palmdale, CA. My dad worked as an engineer there, and I got to see F100's, F104's, F86's, B58's, XB70's and everything else flying, nearly every day. And I also enjoyed flying kites, whenever I could steal some bamboo sticks from my mother's garden and make another one. So, basically if it flies, I love it!
I got started in RC around 1975, with a Futaba 4-channel and a Mark's Models Wanderer 72". There were no "buddy-boxes" back then, so you flew until you crashed, then went home to rebuild it. One time I cart-wheeled the Wanderer in, and after the rebuild the wingspan was suddenly 98 inches - man would that baby fly! I eventually gave that plane to my neighbor, to replace his, that I'd helped crash.
Anyway, now I have more than a dozen planes, including a SuperGeeII, a PICA 1/5 scale WACO-YMF (with a SuperTigre .20-.23) and an RCSuperPowers MiG-23. As you can tell, I have all kinds of planes here. I've learned to stay away from helicopters - - they don't survive my dumb-thumbs for more than about 15 seconds.
I also like flying and building kites. You can see some of them (and my own design, the AfterBurner) at my website at http://home.earthlink.net/~f1shback/
