Hi Guys
Just wondering if someone can recommend a good alternative to HobbyKing
Been a HobbyKing loyalist all this while, but knowing a few other alternatives wouldn't hurt.
Started using RCTimer for all my motor needs now,
But so far HK is my only good bet

Ok,Now,presuming you have read my other post and/or are already above the Noob status, you are quite likely to have conquered your flight already and want more out your Bixler 2...

The first thing that probably comes on everyone's mind is probably SPEED.
We all want to go 200mph,but sadly the Bix won't take that kind of stress, but have no fear,we can go Significantly faster than stock for the cost of flight times
( and sometimes puffed LiPos )
All my options work well with the Plush 40A
Some of the Power set-ups you can opt for (along with some boring math) are:

Option 1 :
Turnigy 2200 Kv Motor along with a 6x4 UPTO a 7x5 Prop shall do fine, the High Kv will spin the prop (relatively) faster and this lead to a faster Bix
This is the most common option amongst people who want speed out of the Bix,
The motor is also very well compatible with the Cheapo 2200 mAh mentioned earlier

An alternative, you may also opt of the NTM 2200 Kv for a bit more power and also 4S compatibilty

The 2 options above give good speeds for shorter flight times, but hey,who cares, hit 50+ MPH

Option 2 is to opt for a Lower KV motor:
The Turnigy 1400 stands a top competitor here as it gives excellent flight time along with decent speeds and good climb rates (works well with a 7x5 prop)

FPV people often opt for Option 2 most of the time...BUT...
HobbyKing (after seeing ample demand) have decided to make a Motor Mount Upgrade for the Bixler, allowing for Larger motors (upto...Continue Reading

Hey Guys
So,a lot of free time and some dedication has led me to this
A KIND-OF beginner info for people starting out
I am going to be focusing on the Bixler 2,as this is the thread I follow most and I believe MANY need this info so as to AVOID re-asking questions.

So,Beginning off:
For an absolute NOOB,I would recommend getting:
1)Bixler 2 ARF
OR
2)Bixler 2 RTF

Don't even THINK about getting the KIT,if this this your first ever plane or something, unless you are ABSOLUTELY confident you can make that work well

Most of the above comes ready will almost everything you need to get up in the air.
For the ARF you need :
1) A Speed Controller,to give yourself the option to upgrade later on,be extra safe and get a 40 AMP PLUSH (((or similar))) (Any from that list should do just fine, but do a bit of research before finalizing you options, TRUST and the BLUE series are most preffered). They are almost bullet proof and will last as long as your plane and is compatible with 90% of the motors that you will be able to use with the airframe (some motors may consume more than 40A on WOT)

2) A Radio System - The RTF Radio is crap,so this is for the RTF guys as well
You can Opt to go all in and get a TARANIS,this is ALL the radio you will EVER NEED for your ENTIRE life in the hobby, truely awesome...
Going a bit lower (and the most preferd option) is a TURNIGY 9XR along with a FRSKY DJT SYSTEM (for FPV and an EXTREMELY reliable link and performance) OR you could opt for the ORX...Continue Reading
