After putting together 16 foamies and electric conversions of balsa models others have built I felt it was time I bit the bullet and tried a balsa and film build myself. I chose the 1/2A Lanier Shrike as it is quite small and has a delta shaped wing that should not be prone to warping. Build went well and I learned alot along the way (mainly by doing it twice) and have had great fun with the finished product. Its powered with a RCer Warp 4, 50amp Hyperion ESC and 2200mah Lipo. This gives it quite a high wing loading but it as an absolute rocket ship. Its very unforgiving however and I might down size the set up at some stage to reduce the wing loading. Some pics below:

My flying club had a float plane day last weekend which was a huge success with flying from 9am till 4pm. With all that activity it was inevitable that some of the flyers came to grief. Heres just some of the incidents that were caught on camera. In follow up blog entries there are some additional pics of the more successful flying Enjoy.
