After putting together 16 foamies and electric conversions of balsa models others have built I felt it was time I bit the bullet and tried a balsa and film build myself. I chose the 1/2A Lanier Shrike as it is quite small and has a delta shaped wing that should not be prone to warping. Build went well and I learned alot along the way (mainly by doing it twice) and have had great fun with the finished product. Its powered with a RCer Warp 4, 50amp Hyperion ESC and 2200mah Lipo. This gives it quite a high wing loading but it as an absolute rocket ship. Its very unforgiving however and I might down size the set up at some stage to reduce the wing loading. Some pics below:

My flying club had a float plane day last weekend which was a huge success with flying from 9am till 4pm. With all that activity it was inevitable that some of the flyers came to grief.
