This combo produces at half throttle, what the Sunnysky 2204 2300KV produces at full throttle with 5" props on 3S, and at 70% of the amps.
Full throttle is 2.3x more thrust, in a motor 1.5x heavier (30g vs 20g), and a prop 20% larger in diameter. Or, four of these at 120g will produce 150% of the thrust of six 20g motors with 5" props, and should produce the same thrust with comparable efficiency.
Plus a healthy 1.7x advantage over a reported thrust of 685g with the cobra 2204 1960KV on 4S with HQ Prop 5x4's.

Sunnysky X2204 2300KV
A decent mini motor has been a long time coming! Good thing it was worth the wait! The Sunnysky X2204S 2300KV has become an instant hit in the mini multirotor world, and with good reason, it is the perfect balance of performance and price.
I do believe it is being under utilised in the majority of applications using 5 inch props, and I hope these figures will encourage growth in frames designed for 6 inch props, (Particularly the HQ Prop 6x3 on 3S), to fully take advantage of the power we now have at our disposal.
Matching motor and prop is necessary to get every ounce of performance from the system, and it is a highly dynamic equation. I believe the perfect balance with the SS X2204S 2300KV on 3S is the HQ Prop 6x3 for all-round & heavier applications (such as mini FPV), and the FC 6x4.5 prop for lightweight acro frames.
- The test was aimed at 4S, this motor could turn bigger props on 3S
- Lipos were fully charged so somewhat non standard voltages
- The APC 11x5.5E was the only prop balanced out of the packet. All others were OK, except the Gemfans which were very unbalanced.
- Comparing the APC11x5.5E and the plastic clone is very interesting. The difference can be heard in the video. Incredible 225 gram thrust difference between two props that look identical. APC all the way
- The APC 10x5.5MR is almost identical in performance to the 10x4.5MR. Small amount more performance but less efficient.
- The APC multirotor props have slightly less thrust than a slow fly but are more efficient, and are more rigid.
- The carbon high speed (Graupner style) prop was very quiet, efficient and punchy! It would absolutely rock on a higher KV 2216 version
