I got this because it was very simple hence the name. A cheap 3D printer to get myself started in the world of manufacturing and engineering. As an undergrad at VT, I thought this would be a great way to get myself into the various aspects of engineering.

The box came last night and I put this printrbot together. I was a little skeptical at first. Some of the wood parts seemed warped and it was hard to take them apart. I chugged through late into the night and finally finished the build.

In the morning I decided to do the software side. I followed the online instructions and it was pretty easy to follow. One issue I ran into was that one of the motors was spinning in the wrong direction. Much like switching the cables on an ESC, I just flipped the cables to make it spin in the other direction. Fixed.

I downloaded my first print: a calibration cube from Thingverse. I let it run and out came an amazing part 40 minutes or so later. The bridging worked to my suprise and the edges looked crisp! After no tweaking and for only $300 I was very impressed. You can't beat this little guy, and for me, it came working right out of box (after assembly of course). I'm sure I'll run into more issues, but for now I'm satisfied.
