Isaiah 6:5
I have about all of my bad traits I know of cleaned up and tossed away. Except for Isaiah 6:5, but do have it mostly under control. Once in awhile it pops out. Looking for a way to think it away, because it is wrong, not to use shame or fear, or pain. But a sensible reason.
Isaiah 6:5
New International Version (NIV)
5 “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”

My Fleet
I have been flying kits, ARF's, and my scratch built Mutt Planes. I think I like the mutts best because I design them with the chacteristics I desire (hope for) in mind and usually succeed in reasonable tolerance.
I suppose I'm more relaxed with them and they feel homey. I get these kits and do not have enough idea of just how it's going to fly. These $450 pot luck games can be disappointing. One I did find much better than expected is the Electrifly Cirrus SR22. Flies so stable and sure, penetrates VERY well, and surprise, that high aspect wing does not stall easily on rotation as expected, it can be gently flown at a pretty high alpha a few feet off the ground and put at your feet with a little practice. You should see it in the air, flying around, it looks and feels like a million bux, well 1/2 million bux, what a full scale one costs.
But all in all I find that I have more fun with the mutt planes.
I have been catching on to the ARF's, commercially built planes. They fly more like a full scale plane. I mainly build floaters, a semi-sailplane aerobat and they are very much different to land. I am now enjoying three commercial kits, a Great Planes Edge 540T, Cirrus SR22, and Herr Cherokee with a 1 1/4 inch full span aileron mod. Just land 'em like a full scale plane.

Wow, I was a near clone of this guy when I was younger, Wernher is one of my favorite people. He is a genius. That may explain why some people thought I might be a rocket nut. As of now propeller power is best suited for my aircraft.
I don't think my rock star personality is even close though.

Oh I Crashed Tonight
July 21, 2012
I finally did my 54 inch Cessna in tonight. Went out to fly with no dinner and lost my depth perception. Went out too fsr on base leg and snagged a power line then it fell to the pavement. Tore the nose out and did strip the rudder servo gears, HS-81. I think I stripped a wing servo gear too, it makes the sound but tracks. I'll take them apart tomorrow to see.
I did crunch two Turnigy 3S 2200's. So after I was done flying my other plane I shot some holes in the batteries. No flames, but an orange glow in the holes and a cloud of smoke. I wanted to see if they would flame, but no flames. More fun than tossing them in a bucket of water to discharge. Now to be sure, they go in a bucket of water for a few days.
No need to say sorry, this was a lesson in rolling with the punches. That plane was a scratch build and it flew and landed just fantastic. Now I'm off to find a 3.5 lb 54 inch to 60 some inch replacement.
Wow, as bad as the Cessna was damaged, I got it flying again in a few days. So don't freak out in front of everyone if you crash. You might get it flying again and not make a fool of yourself.
Oct-Nov has been a bad month. I lost a Great Planes Cirrus and an electrocuted Laser Stick .10 with a sheeted wing mod. Not so good, three planes in a few months. I went years without crashing. I left a trash can in the way and lost the Cirrus trying to move it while flying, the Laser Stick .10 had an aileron servo go bad.

I Have Different Goals
I'm often asked, "What's the big deal about flying ?" Why not do something else ?"
So I ask, "You mean taking dope, sucking on people's skin, and counting money adds meaning to life ?" And why worry if I might make a weapon of it if you have no plan to stimulate any action ?
If you can't answer as usual, don't feel so bad, it seems few people really have the ability to.
EDIT:
Wow, I think I'm getting through, things have been pretty good for a few mnonths.

I always bypassed the moon in my astronomy. I thought it was just a big ball with a bunch of craters. But as of lately I realized the moon is there for us to see up close and personal. It is an inspiration that accelerated astronomy because it is so predominant in our lives. So look at it and learn. Don't ignore the moon !
I was doing some imaging experiments of the moon and found a surprize I hadn't expected. I thought the moon was too bright and maybe using an ND filter to lower the brightness would bring more detail out. I ended up with a color image of the moon, not black & white as always before. Turns out others got the exact same results. This photo I found on the web was so close to mine I decided to save the trouble of digging it up on a CD somewhere in my archives.
An ND filter is neutral density, meaning a simple blackened glass that does not affect color, it only dims the image.

Well, at first I was complaining about an Atomic Bomb comedy proposition.
I need to see megabux to go any farther.
I can't make a greater crater. I'm only an amateure that stumbled onto some things that shocked me mentally and scared me away from farther studies.

Here's what 47 years have done. I am 8 in the first photo and 55 in the second.
The 2nd photo is a bit rough, I will redo it after some exercise, sun and fun. I had an awful evening tonight. Some lady wanted a photo so I reached and grabbed a shirt, made the photo, and posted it.
This is a fun sort of thing and I think it would be fun to see this from more people. Your young and adult photo. But no it may take the mystery out of what you may look like with age. I will add that your disposition will have some effect on your adult appearance.

Sorry for the kids, they don't stand a chance against this.
The Dip
They were killing each other by the millions before I came in to the world, just some lunacy was written here, caused by the smoke from their fires. You all sure made one nasty world to live in.
Please be careful with your science. Or maybe just go on and feel free to make the right side of the dip in war worse than WWII. After I'm gone, they will probably be killing each other by the tens or hundreds of millions.

The Radio Purchase from RCG's Classifieds
It didn't go very well. Intermittently, the bind light on the transmitter went out and no transmit. I sent it off, it's been out 3 weeks now. No terrible problem, it is off season, time to get things like this done.
I got it back, it worked a few minutes then no RF out again. I repaired the problem. There was a bad solder joint I found. Now I'm impressed with the radio. Nice airplane instruction set for $200.
The problem could have fooled the seller. Shipping it could have jarred the joint loose. Having a name similar to underwear (BVD) sure didn't help my paranoia.
I thought it was paranoia, took a chance and had a minor problem. It was a wonderful suspense filled month and 1/2 total purchase and shipping time, ship to Hobby People, wait on technician, ship back then see the problem not fixed.
At least Hobby People covered the return shipping.
I would have done the repair myself on the first start, but I was trying to be a law abiding person. Turns out these 2.4ghz modules are legal for me to repair.
After today's testing, I guess the radio is ready to fly an aircraft with. I think I'll go do some test flights on my Raptor 90. Just joking, the E-Starter is my transmitter test plane, haw haw.
Been doing some testing. The fit and stick feel is great and the airplane programming is very versatile. The heli programming is a few commands short of Spektrum but perfectly useable, the missing ones are really most convenient for mechanical setup slop.
Oct. 2011 update :
After a summer of use, the RDS8000 is my prefered transmitter. It fit my grip perfectly from the start and the adjustable stick pressure is a MUST. The airplane programming commands are super.
So I bought a used one that I needed to do a little repair to and now it's fantastic. The repair success only served to boost my pride.
June 2012 Update, I think this RDS8000 is a very good choice.
As of February 2013 I think the RDS8000 is a fantastic choice.

I didn't feel confident with velcro so here's how I mounted my camera. I like this better. This was originally posted in the Keychain Camera thread but about anything gets lost in that one anywhere from a few hours to a day or so.
I bored a few holes wrongly. I am on the peak of some allergy or cold, and not thinking well. One reason for using my "best plane" for the experiments.
The camera is held on at the rear by a 2-56 thumbscrew, and up front by two or three rubber bands. Depends on how good the bands are. I may find an O-ring to fit instead.

I heard some people were having trouble with the struts coming off from the weak factory setup. After my mod, it fell 20 feet from a tree and the strut brackets stayed on but I did pull one rod from the clevis. I superglued it back in as I did originally and it has been flying well since. I don't think they'll fail in flight.
What I did was epoxy two 1/8 inch dowel pins into the wing through some Radio Shack perf board. I measured the dowel pins to go about 75% of the way into the wing. A trick here is to get the hole as tight of a dry fit as possible, then fill with 5 minute or the epoxy of your choice.
The perf board is slotted to fit over the strut bracket. The holes in the perf board sort of make epoxy nails when it flows up into the holes.
On the fuselage part, I did it differently by threading several turns of unwaxed Kroger dental floss over a CF rod epoxied to the inside of the fuselage and through holes I made in the fuz strut brackets. I felt the fuz walls were too thin there to simply sink some dowel pins. Now, after some experience, a strip of 1/8 inch Midwest plywood with the holes drilled for the pins and epoxied on the fuz sides would work.

I started on a foam cutter and moved before I could document and present it. Here is what the start was and I plan to make a new improved version.
The cutter completely solved the problem I had with grooves and cross cutting in at the ends due to bow misalignment. Cross cutting always ended in scrapping the wing panel.
See the T bar the blank is mounted to ? Simply move the cold wire to the edge of the blank and align the blank by releasing the mount screws and turn the blank until the wire is straight across the blank, then tighten the mount screws.
The wooden thing at the end of the long lead screw is a crude hand crank I made for a quick test. The speed reduction effect of the lead screw, in this case 20:1 for 1/4 - 20 threads, made human errors in speed so negligible that I really don't see any need for a drive motor other than for convenience and/or repeatability.
The bow is hinged at the rear of the bench and hangs by it's weight. Weights can be added on the wire side for more pressure or on a lever sticking out the far rear end for lightening pressure on the formers.
I will be building the new one soon for a winter project.
Welllll I thought I was.

For awhile I was using CA to quickly tack wing parts together. Especially when applying skins. Well, I like Titebond II better. I can't stand the fumes anymore. I also see that in low humidity on dry balsa, water based wood glue sets in 15 to 20 minutes, and so far well enough to handle it for farther assembly.
Under this skin is a pad of DuBro 514 foam. The weight presses the curve into the foam and puts a good even pressure to keep it in contour. I did cheat and use a small amount of CA to tack the ends down That is a good way, rather than running a bead all along each rib. Man, that would choke an elephant.
It was nice, I go back to this.

My Mom dressed me up in this Nazi shirt and made me take a photo in it. I haven't made any Nazi friends but plenty of Jewish enemies.
Ha, that was me at about 8 years old. Wow, such a big deal to me then. They almost had to drag me to the camera to take that one. I mean I was nearly in shock about getting a photo made with me wearing a red shirt.
I do want to come out to the open about this. I think Hitler was a genius. He was of the most advanced leaders in the MECHANICS of a nation. His ideas of how the archetecture, roads, automotive designs etc. should be are very beautiful and practical. As a matter of fact I was very surprized to see the USA is designed very much in the way of his mechanical sense. I do think he failed in his obcession for those he hated. That's what I can put together of what I was shown. And why I am interested.
