This blog will follow the build of my Mytho S 50E from Sebart. I will be using some after market items during the build that I feel make the model better and are my personal preference. Sebart planes built box stock are beautiful flying models and really need nothing extra. But, like most modelers, I just can't leave well enough alone. Most of the information contained here is old hat to most who read it but I'm trying to keep in mind the new modeler who might read it or has never built a Sebart model. For the experienced modeler who might read it, please feel free to offer suggestions. If you see a better way to do something then what I've done here, I'm all ears. I'm always willing to learn something new and can use it on the next model.
List of aftermarket items I'm using:
Max Products 2.25" wheels (Kind of heavy but worth imo. Run true, thinner so they fit in the pants better and they don't make that rattling sound that the hard plastic hub wheels make.
F3A canopy latch (Actually may not use this)
RS composite landing gear struts (Stock struts work ok but do have a tendency to sag and bend)
GP 2 1/4" aluminum back spinner (Stock spinner isn't bad but back plate does have a tendency to spin when tightening the prop)
Secraft aluminum axels (No wheel collar required. Uses "C" clip retainer, has built in tire off set, look nice and are light weight)
I have been in the hobby since 1971, flew pattern from1973 to 1980 when i went into the Air Force. Started with Helicopters competively from 1985 to 2000 and have been a JR Heli team member since then.
Street Rods, RC Helicopters & Airplanes. Currently most of my spare time is spent with my son who competes internationally with helicopters. He currently has 10 championships under his belt. 5 XFC, 4 Zone Format, 1 Heli Masters.
