Wow, after a fresh nights sleep reading my first post... was a bit rough. Bear with me. My grammer is much better than what you will see on my blog. Bear in mind that most of my entries will be made late at night after I'm already physically and mentally drained from a full day of the real world.

Moving on with things. I was searching around for someone with a full scale Aerolite 103 that I could pull dimensions from. Long story short, I ended up on the phone with The owner of the company who is currently producing the new and improved version of the 103 called the AeroSport 103 and or the Phoenix. I'm extatic to announce that he seems very happy to work with me on the project. He is helping me with the dimensions I'm looking for and I'm glad to help him with any CAD work I can offer in return. Who knows... If the model flies well I might even knock out a copy of the airframe for him just to say thanks.

I drew up a several 2D CAD drawings that I turned into pdf worksheets for him to complete. It's sort of a fill in the blanks with the dimensions type of thing. The next part for me is the hardest part... Anxiously awaiting the return of the first set of worksheets so I can dig in and start modeling the Aerolite in AutoCad.

I guess the next logical step to do while waiting it to start scourcing any tools or materials I think I might need... Though I guess that will be hard too until I know for sure what scale I will be building it in. Once I get the models tubing diameters dialed in I can order material and a small tubing bender and die set to start fabricating parts. Maybe I just wait for now.

I'll post again as soon as hear back from him or see some worksheets. Until then here is a little more eye candy. I like this one too. Maybe I'll have to build more than one.

I've never blogged before. I don't even know what the term blog means or stands for, but I understand the concept. So lets see how this goes. I'm going to blog about my next hobby project. I imagine this will be a lengthy blog, but hopefully not too lengthy, as I plan to bring the finished project with me on hopefully my first of many trips to the Great Joe Nall fly in.

The project at hand is to build a very detailed 1/2 scale replica of a Aerolite 103 ultralight that I plan to bring with me to the 2010 Joe Nall Fun fly. The Aerolite 103 is in my opinion one of the best looking ultralights on the market. I've always loved ultralights. The bright colors of the ripstop nylon sails, the simple and durable aluminum tube construction, the open cockpit... grass roots feel that you can only get in an ultralight. There is nothing more exciting than looking down at your shoe, just to glance past it and see nothing but 1000 feet strait down. Or to float inches above a wheat field as you cruise along.

Let the project begin:
