My pursuit of the perfect tundra tire is never ending, I just set up this blog. I located some furniture foam with just the right firmness (2-4 lb. planes), cut out a cylinder and halved on the bandsaw. Drill out the approximate center with a Forstner bit and white gorilla glue in a FZPC stock rim after cutting off the clattery rubber tire. Drill out the axle hole to fit whatever and tighten appropriately sized bolt with a locking nut and chuck into Dremel. 15,000 rpm on SE razor forms the wheel, I sized these to match the stock Timber wheels in size and roundness. Coat 4-5 times with Rubber Spray and they're like riding on air. They deform like a real tundra on impact and taxi and absorb landing shock with no clatter.

I'm now working with some 60# furniture, closed cell foam which seems to be the right amount of squish factor and much better looks.

BushMule just arrived and the clanky, tundra tires are a totally useless for my purposes. Will make some scale foam for this plane.

I used to fly an Aviat Husky A-1 with 31" AK Bushwheels and I've always wanted to get that feel in my RC STOL models. It's getting there but the right # foam is the key.
