Thanks to all of you that have emailed, PM'd, IM'ed or posted here thanking me for my work on ATTF. It means a lot. If I didn't respond to you directly, please forgive me, but there were just a few to respond to. I was a bit taken back by the response and appreciate all the kind words and understanding. As I said on the show, it had become a bit of a chore doing the podcast and was really impeding on my enjoyment of the hobby. I know some of you will never understand that, but when you take on something with the passion I have for both RC and ATTF, it really can become oppressive. That old saying, "Too much of a good thing" is applicable.

I have no plans on leaving the hobby, which is why I am taking an extended break from ATTF. I just want to focus on my flying and not have to worry about remembering every little detail to report on Sunday nights. Now I can simply go to the field and fly without concern about the show, just flying.

Again, thanks for all of your support and coming up to me at events to say hello and expressing your appreciation. That is what kept me doing it for almost 4 years. At some point I might find that I want to return to podcasting and ATTF, but for now I just want to be an everyday RC pilot.

You listeners are awesome and without you I wouldn't have been able to take the wild ride. And expect to see me in the chat room every week. I plan on becoming an avid listener and fan of ATTF.

So it is been more than a year since I posted here last. Just a few changes since then I really gave the helis a go, but the stress and the repairs just didn't suit my style. I was actually close to ditching the entire RC hobby when Red Herring suggested I fly a plane to help with orientation. Well, I had no desire to fly a plane, but I started practicing on my sim at the time Phoenix.

A week or so later I have a pair of GWS Slow Sticks ready to fly. I had no clue what I was doing then, and some will argue that I still don't My father and I spent a Saturday building them and fighting the very poorly translated instructions. Victory was ours many hours later and we had one Tan and one Yellow SS ready. Sunday we go to the field (at the time a subdivision under construction) and give it a go. We both crashed and burned after just a few moments of flight. Back to the house, ordered up some new props and discovered the SS thread. Ordered some prop savers and went for it again about a week later.

My father has still yet to fly I think his vision prevents him from being able too, but I am still hopeful. I was able to fly that next trip, however landing was a different story. I didn't know about how prop size affected current draw or any of that and paid the price. Finally went brushless and also added a Parkzone Typhoon to my fleet. I just found this site last week, and I spend more time reading posts here than doing anything else online at the moment. I have been online since about 97, got broadband DSL in early 98 and wish I got paid for surfing. I think I could retire now. Thanks to a little Picco Z knockoff, I am addicted to RC Helis. I have started out slow with a Blade CX 2 which I picked up at a local hobby shop. I have had my fair share of crashes this past week, and have made more trips to the LHS for replacement parts. I can certainly tell a difference in my skill level from when I started. Figure 8's and Piros are not an issue any longer, and I can hold it full speed ahead doing laps in my 2 car garage. I am currently waiting on more batteries and a new charger to arrive.

I have had 2 out door flights and they were exciting to say the least. The first one I ended up in a tree and found out the slightest of breezes will affect the flight of the CX2. I have also flown in my backyard, still a slight breeze, but kept it low and steady. Out doors is far more fun than the confines of the Garage. I can see with a few more weeks of real flight that I will probably grab a flight sim. I used to game a lot on the PC, so my specs should be up to snuff to run a nice sim package. But I see an out door bird to be my next stop. Still researching what that will be, but by the time I am ready for that step I am sure there will be newer more interesting products to choose from.
