A few people have asked about details & pics of my recent motor bike trip so I thought I`d post it here .
We left Melbourne for Tibooburra on July 25 with the bikes on the trailer . The plan was to ride the bikes from Tibooburra to Camerons corner then down the Strezlecki track to Lyndhurst , up to Maree then take the Oodnadatta track to Mount Dare , then Across the Simpson Desert to Birdsville , then back to Tiboburra , put the bikes on the trailer & drive home . At a guess it would be close to 4000 km on the bikes & maybe 3000 by car .
Things don`t always go to plan , about 300 km from Tibooburra it started raining & the dirt roads got pretty slick . It rained all night when there & the next morning all roads were closed in & out of Tibooburra .We were stuck there. Nothing to do but go to the pub & drink with all the other stranded travellers . There was a variaty bash that had come from Camerons corner the day before & they had a lot of stories of being stuck in mud & 2 vehicles rolled . About lunch time the next day they opened the road south . The direction we had come from . As more rain was expected in the next few days we made the decision to head south for a new starting point . All the way back to Leigh creek in South Australia ( another day & a half drive away ) By this time I was over driving & very keen to get on the bike .
Of course it rained that night but I was getting on the bike no matter what . We got away
