Many of you all have visited and flown with Georgia Model Aviators, north of Atlanta Georgia. Home to many events from Warbirds over Atlanta to IMAC, the field is now in jeopardy of loosing the airfield our founding members worked so hard to create. Please help us by joining the cause, writing the commissioners, and if you are in town and available, please attend the Commissioner's meeting this Thursday.

More info is below; come show your support for a fellow club and let's keep this place flying:

We Need Everyone’s Help – Now & This Thursday 5pm at Forsyth County Commissioners Meeting at the Forsyth County Administration Building!

As mentioned in our October communiqué regarding our lease agreement with Forsyth County, we are continuing our efforts on two fronts: 1) Fighting to keep our current field and 2) looking for a new flying site as a contingency. With respect to fighting for our current location, there is a commissioner meeting this Thursday the 21st, which starts at 5:00pm. We need you to attend!

We are asking for everyone and family who can attend please do so. It is critical that we show how many people are affected by the Commissioners decision. They won’t know if we don’t show! GMA needs your support. Our leadership met with Commissioner Todd Levent this morning so that he could tell us what we are up against and how to counter it. We listened intently as Commissioner Levent suggested a strategy to hold onto our field with. There are five...Continue Reading

I am loving this pairing from Thunder Power. Looks great, performs great, and only uses one plug for 27v of power.

We popped this out of the molds and Traian assembled it with me last night- I am so friggin happy and excited! I still have radio install, setup, and some light sanding of one wing root before she flies.

Yes, you read that right! This is a high performance, competition-grade DLG with a two piece wing!

AUW projected at 250g after radio install.
More pics to come, more info here:

Do you have cane furniture; doesn’t everybody? Cane is possibly one of the most renewable natural resources we have after plastic, it is not only strong but lightweight and attractive. Every item in my apartment is made of cane, including my television. It looks like the one from Gilligan’s Island but is in colour of course. Do you remember that episode where a robot came to the island? That was the best one in my opinion. I always preferred Mary Anne to Ginger, same with Flintstones - I found Betty much more attractive than Wilma but then I am not really keen on redheads at all. They have freckles all over their body did you know? It’s the ones on their back and shoulders that creep me out the most.

I myself like to go for a jog every night to keep fit but fear leaving the house so I have to jog on the spot taking very small steps with my arms straight down. Once, I went to a party in a bear outfit which worked out well as it was freezing and I was the only one warm.

I am currently soundproofing my apartment with egg cartons as I realise my dogs can cause quite a bit of noise. Especially during feeding time when I release live rabbits.

Currently I only have eight dogs but one is expecting puppies and I am very excited by this. I am hoping for a litter of at least ten as this is the number required to participate in dog sled racing.

I have read every Jack London novel in preparation and have constructed my own sled from timber I borrowed from the...Continue Reading

This photo was taken a few minutes before I took off...with reversed ailerons!!

After taking off and rolling to KE, I knew I was screwed but several of my buddies thought I was hotdogging... next thing I know, I am inverted and start giving down elevator to climb out. I knew what was wrong, and had to do opposite of intuition just to stay up, I was simply trying to tame it before attempting an approach.

Mark Murdock was at my side, and did a great job of managing to refuse the transmitter while also keeping me surprisingly calm. He was able to talk me down using rudder and elevator, and using opposite aileron controls to keep the wings level. I wanted to write it off, but we were able to bring it in suffering only a broken prop and a scratch on the cowl.

My knees were about to buckle, I could not believe how fortunate this was
Lesson: Always double check your controls- especially on a new tx, with a new plane! Also don't rush- even if there are folks waiting for your frequency.

I had been putting this off long enough, time to get back to tinkering on the P-47.

First I was delayed on funds, then when I finally got it all together I found I had some fuel-flow gremlins in my aircraft. Then I got sidetracked for SEFF, then for the Southeastern FPV Fly-In.

With my other projects mostly off the bench, I am going to get back to my warbird. First on my list is to install Robart giant electric retracts, then replace the fuel lines and system with this goodiebag from Hodges Hobbies and Jersey Modeler.

When plugging into my LED's during Tuesday night at SEFF, I had a series of shorts and burnt wires throughout the fuse. It was just before the first flight of the night... not sure if I will open her back up to do lights and recover. 501 LEDs and a lot of love went into this- Thanks for the countless fun nights!

A big thanks to Weathervane for picking up this Cub for me and driving it down safely to SEFF. The original builder, VacoBob, did a fantastic job on this plane, it is unrecognizable from the stock H9 J-3 Cub. The detail is outstanding, down to the fly fishing rod tucked away in the cabin. Other notables include iflytailies pilot, hat, headsets, magazines, map, Cub teddy bear, matte finish, and 8" GoodYear air tires. My biggest thanks to Weathervane for taking the time to pitt stop, load it up, and delivering it safely. I could not have done a better job! Thank you!...Continue Reading
