Next Setup
Moving forward with my FPV ventures I've decided on my next setup. I'm looking for thoughts and feedback. It will be a 2.3 ghz setup designed for mainly intermediate range:
Ground Station:
2.3 ghz 700 mw Vtx
http://www.readymaderc.com/store/ind...oducts_id=1108
2.3 RHCP bluebeam set (I will be looking into making a 2.3 inverted V)
http://www.sierrarc.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=293
Vrx side:
2 X 2.3 ghz Vrx (ran through Eagle Eyes for diversity)
http://www.readymaderc.com/store/ind...oducts_id=1109
10 dBic RHCP crosshair
http://www.readymaderc.com/store/ind...oducts_id=1189
Eagle eyes + tracker
http://www.readymaderc.com/store/ind...da27c52c30af91
http://www.readymaderc.com/store/ind...roducts_id=121
As far as an airframe, I had my heart set on the Crash Test Hobby Reaper or Deep Reaper XL. But now, I am hearing rumors of TBS releasing a new airframe very soon They've been working with Ritewing and Windrider, I've seen glimpses of their creation and it looks very interesting to say the least. I've also been looking at the airframes by Bormatec as well as the Skyhunter. Updates will come as soon as they happen! So any feedback and/or thoughts feel free to share! Thanks.

My current project
So I got interested in FPV after watching a segment on the local news about some locals doing some proximity flying in the hillsides of the local mountains. That began my quest for knowledge and information about this aspect of the hobby.
At the time, I had a couple foam trainers and was re-acquainting my self to the hobby. I had become fairly comfortable with flying what I had so I decided to purchase a platform that I could turn into a FPV aircraft in the future. So I went with the version 1 Sky Surfer. Once I received it, I immediately assembled it, and threw it skyward as soon as I could. Within 20 minutes I had crashed and broke it. This, began my journey in learning how to repair foam. And now this is my current setup:
ReadymadeRC SKysurfer V1:
Elevator and rudder servo moved to tail
Custom PVC motor mount
rctimer 2212-2200KV motor
Hobbywing 30a ESC
Castle Creations 10a BEC
HXT900 servos
Eagle Tree:
100A eLogger V4
Video OSD Pro Expander
10Hz GPS Expander
Guardian Stabilization Expander
Video:
RMRC-420XV CCD Camera
600mw ImmersionRC 5.8Ghz Vtx
Bluebeam Whip antenna set
Uno5800 Vrx
9"LCD screen.
Stock Futaba 6EX 2.4 with R617FS
So far I've stretched out to about 3/4 of a mile and about 1200 feet in elevation with this setup. Dragon Link soon to be coming.
In the not so far off future I will be getting a Crash Test Hobby Grim Reaper, or Deep Reaper XL.
Here is a video of my first recorded flight. Its my 8th actual FPV flight. Its a little bumpy due to the wind, and I know my editing needs some fine tuning. But its all a work in progress
