This is my first scratch built balsa ribbed wing plane which I started building last winter. I was planning to compete it as a HLG but decided to make it a powered glider. When holding it from the wing tips, it didn't feel like the wing would hold up in a semi-powerful discus launch, so I mounted a 10 gram motor I had laying around. I'm still very excited about the plane and am looking forward to putting it up in the air! I especially like the covering which is 1.5 mil laminating film that I picked up from ebay.

My wife and I were visiting South Dakota and went to a remote location that is the geographical center of the United States (if Hawaii and Alaska are included). I didn't have any RC planes along with me on the trip, so I purchased the next best thing, a kite . We were there for about 1/2 hour and not one other person visited the site.

I've been flying my modified 4 channel EZFly for a week now and I'm very happy with it so far. I crashed it a few times but each time the damage was easily repairable. I am mostly turning with the bank and yank method but eventually I'll be able do smooth coordinated turns.

I learned to fly RC on 2 planes: the EZfly and the BYOB. Below are pics of the original EZFly (red wings) as well as my current project which is an 85% scaled version with ailerons. I ran the original with a hobbyking hextronik 24g motor on a 2S battery with a 7 X3.5 prop. The aileron version has a flat wing and a wing doubler on the bottom side. I'm looking forward to getting it up in the air.
